Publisher's summary

A man on a journey, struggling to do the right thing. One woman looking for new worlds to conquer and another trying to find her way back home. Tossed together by fate, they must learn to trust each other or die.

The universe is not as peaceful as the Reunification Commission pretends. Despite rumors of war and revolution, RuComm is sending out diplomats and scientists. They say it is a time for peace. For Ted Holloman, fresh from the RuComm Academy, it is a time of duty and service.

Outbound from Earth, Ted has problems of his own. His best friend is in love with Wandering Star’s linguist, a woman with gold flecks in her brown eyes. Too bad being in love is against RuComm policy, and the ship’s AI is always watching. Then there’s the chaplain on her way to the Mission on Bodens Gate. When Ted looks into her cold, blue eyes, he sees more than a desire to serve God.

Together, they must find a way to survive on Bodens Gate, where the government rules by terror and blood, and death is a simple thing that passes with shrugs more often than tears. Encouraging rebellion there might get them killed. Leading one certainly will. But for love, it might be the only choice.

Heart Warming Scifi

I enjoyed the story for the most part. Anderson does a good job of character and world building. I found myself generally interested in Ted, Hannah, and Alice as their story unfolds. The tech wasn't too cheesy and everything about the world or universe they live in made sense.

The thing that bothered me was the graphic sex scenes. I personally felt they were kind of distracting and out of place with how well balanced everything else was.

Clark does a wonderful job. As someone who listens to a lot of free books for reviews I can say that he has that quality that makes you want to keep listening or forget that you're even listening at all.

if you're looking for good personal relationships set in a futuristic, spaceship traveling universe this is a good get.

Fun Book, Easy Listen

Wandering Star was was a great book and more than I expected. The Narrator, TJ Clark, had a great voice and it was easy to listen to him. Who can resist a Sci-Fi - love story? The plot certainly held my interest and the characters were fun and well developed throughout the book. I look forward to reading/listening to another Steven Anderson book.

Go for a space ride

The story and world building were strong. The characters were engaging. The narration is spot on for what was in my head. Very enjoyable space ride. I obtained this book for free in return for my honest opinion. I'm glad I liked it so much.

Pretty good.

The story was pretty interesting, the narrator TJ Clark did a great job with differentiating the characters.

Love and Adventure

Wandering Star is a really fun listen! Ted Holloman has a fresh young voice, and it's his enthusiasm for life, love, and the universe that really drives this novel. You could call him naive, but it's refreshing to listen to a story where the main character isn't bogged down by a torturous backstory that leaves him closed to new adventures. The world-building is light, but not insubstantial. I was fully invested in this world without having to listen to pages and pages of description. The plot is very engaging and deepens at just the right pace. The Tarakana are fascinating! Some of my favorite aliens right there. And, if you like romance and sexy times, this book has that too!

Any novel is enhanced by good narration and TJ Clark does a fantastic job here, capturing Ted's personality and sharing it with us. He also does a great job with all of the other voices, each distinct and with a great personality.

Great story, Great characters. Fun Listen!

I had read this book in soft cover. Saw it available on Audible and decided to listen on my commute. I’m only partway through but it’s a really fun listen. When I arrive home I’m sad to stop.

The story is excellent. Planet hopping but with characters who bring unique study to each planet. And, unlike much futuristic sci if, Steven Anderson projects that things from today might still be around - music, drinks, religions. It’s really refreshing and after reading this I don’t know why so many authors reject everything from today (we still listen to music that is hundreds of years old today because it’s so human.

And I really enjoy the characters. Very human, again.

I highly recommend this as a listen. The narrator is superb.

A Good Start for a Trilogy

This was a good light read/listen. The premise is interesting, the characters well developed and interesting enough to want to follow. The narrator does a great job with the voices and keeps them interesting. The pace could be a bit quicker... but then again it is a trilogy and character development takes some time!

Great new Aurthor, and a great story to start with

I really enjoyed listening to Wandering Star, the reader had a very pleasant voice that really worked well with the story line of the book.
The story was well written and in a very short time has the reader captivated and not wanting to stop listening. I listened to this while I was on the treadmill and it seemed like the time just flew by.
Looking forward to listening to Steven's next book in the series. He's got me hooked and another follower. Thanks.

Interesting story but the main character is like James Bond

I enjoyed the story in all aspects except for one.

The story follows a space ship, called Wandering Star, that goes on survey missions.

I felt like the main character sleeps or tries to sleep with every women he meets. I’m exaggerating a little, but not by much.
