Publisher's Summary

Watch out for the Assassin’s Claws....

Clay Moreno is a paid killer, just like his four brothers. It’s the family business - they fight together, they die together. Whether they’re working as a group or alone, they are a tight unit who protect their own.

Clay drew the short straw on their latest mission: Assassinate the American president. He knew the case was going to be tough, but the last thing he expected to find was his mate...the president’s own son. The fact that he began the case with plans to seduce his way into the White House via that same son is beside the point. What his mate doesn’t know shouldn’t hurt him....

Nick Jackson is lonely and ordinary in a family of overachievers. He doesn’t want to do photo ops for the press, prep for the next year’s tests over the summer or any of the hundreds of other things his mother hassles him about. All he wants is to relax after his first year of college, work on his tan...and maybe find a boy to flirt with.

This is the first in a new series of short listens. Note: While MPREG exists in this world, we won’t have a birth in every book. This book contains killer cats, ninja bunnies, and a life-changing mating bite. Get ready for naughty-knotty fun and low-ball humor as only Susi Hawke can provide.

OMG! I laughed out loud!

I loved this book when I read it and it just got better listening to it. I literally laughed out loud during several parts. And smoking hot sex scenes just made it better. Clay and Nick are so great together. Ninja bunnies *giggles* definitely will listen again.

great start

Another great series begins!! I was hooked just by reading the plot and the story did not disappoint. Yeah the relationship between Nick and Clay progressed very rapidly but that fairly normal in fates mates stories. The plot was very intriguing and I’m interested to see how it carries on throughout the rest of the series...
Narration by Kenneth Obi was on point. Even though he doesn't have the range of voices as a lot of other narrators I always enjoy the books he does.

A Good Start

This is the first book in The Assassin’s Claw Series. A wonderful book the writing was okay. I do wish that there was more of a plot other than true mates. The other was like a subplot that was forgotten. I found the story and characters delightful. The characters were developed and thought out. Clay and Nick are the MC’s of this book and mates. I have mixed feelings about the narration. It was done well and there was expressive ups and downs. It wasn’t monotone and had different voices for each character. But Clay voice didn’t work for me the narration for him was almost monotone. And thus, made this character less enjoyable than he should have been. Although I had some issue with this book, I did enjoy it and I can recommend it as a good read/listen. I can’t wait for the rest of the series. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Another fun listen

Hawke always gives us such fun reads/listens and this one was no exception and is a great start to a new series. I have slight personal irritations because I am Portuguese and the names really don't fit, Moreno is a Spanish last name and that is forgivable since they do border and it's entirely possible but the first names just don't work for me considering they still Live in Portugal had they been living in the US it might have been more believable for me. As for the narration Obi does a good job. Overall it's a good listen and most people wouldn't even notice my personal issues.

Assigned Into Love

When Clay was assigned to eliminate a high profile target, he didn't expect to find his mate in his target sons.
The relationship between Clay and Nick was an instant love kind of situation.
There is passion, chemistry, mystery, action and some crazy bunnies involved in this plot.
Definitely and entertaining tale to listen to.

The narration was great and for a first in the series, it grabs your attention.

Loved this book, so much Fun

I loved this audiobook, it was not what I expected and I enjoyed every minute of it. Assassin turn protector Clay and spoiled playboy Nick made a hot couple with off the charts chemistry. I loved both characters, their interactions were funny and sexy. I didn't love the chapter where Nick's body was changing,(too much detail) but that's just me. Narration was very good. I am looking forward to other books in this series. Highly recommend.

Walk Tall

This is book 1 in a new series by Susi Hawke. Where humans and shifters exist together but the shifters live in secret. Clay is sent to kill the president of the United States for his knowledge of shifters and wanting to everyone to know about them. But instead of killing the president Clay finds his mate in the president's son Nick. After a claiming bite changes Nick into a shifter like his mate, Nick's family seem to be totally okay with seeing their son transform into a cat. Personally that would freak me out. Then Nick finds out he's been changed into an omega and is with child, which he seems totally fine with. Maybe he'll freak out a bit once he has to deliver his baby. I did enjoy listening to this story and I do recommend it.
Narrator Kenneth Obi does a fabulous job as always.

Luved It

For someone that’s not into shifter books I absolutely love 💕 this one. Insta-love, no angst and all the steam you can ask for. Oh and how could I leave out the humor. Nick Nick, I had to shake my head and laugh out loud at some of the things he said. Lastly everyone should have a Dr. Silva(get it and and you will know what I mean). Bring on book 2.

Great start to a new series

Okay so we have a new series by the talented Susi Hawke. I loved Nick & Clay. Clay is a shifter and an assassin. He is tasked to take out the President of the US and to get close he targets his gay son Nick. What he doesn't know is that Nick is his fated mate. Clay, from the beginning, thinks something is off & doesn't really believe what he has been told about the President. I liked that he was willing to listen to his gut and verify the facts before doing the deed. When Clay meets Nick, he realizes that he is his true mate. They grow, in a very short period of time, very close to each other. When Clay reveals who he really is, Nick doesn't freak out and accepts who Clay is and that they are mates. When Nick finds out what Clay was originally there to do, he is pretty pissed off about it, rightfully so. Clay does redeem himself and takes on a boatload of assassin bunnies, yes bunnies :). What happens after the mating wasn't something I don't believe I've read before. I can not wait for future books in this series. I love his brothers & want them all to find their HEA's. Absolutely enjoyed it the second time around. Kenneth Obi did a great job!!

A new series to follow :)

This is a new series following a family of assassins, brothers.
First up is Clay. He's been contracted to kill a high profile target, so imagine his horror when he finds out that said target's son is his mate, Nick! It's a short, fun story, with good characters. Looking forward to listening to the rest of the series.

Kenneth Obi was really very good with the character voices -very distinct and easy to know who was talking or when an inner voice was being used. There were a couple of things that I noticed (but did not detract from my enjoyment of the audio): there were times that Clay's slight accent slipped and I wasn't keen on the voice chosen for Nick - (personal preference) - even though it was well done.
Overall, I loved the performance, it's a great way to enjoy the story!

The assassin finds his mate

Clay has one mission which is to kill the President. Little does he know he’d find his mate within the target’s family. Duty against love. It’s a terrible spot to be in. But Nick makes his decision easier. Good narration...
