On Mars, Jason had stumbled across the escape pod to a 3,500-year-old derelict spacecraft. The AI for the ship then informed Jason that due to him having some traces of alien DNA, he was now the Captain of a massive alien Starship. That 'should' have been good news.

Except that most of the Mars and Earth government agencies had different ideas about the alien ship.

And the ships AI, having been derelict for centuries... It now has some issues...

But the real problem was that Jason's DNA had an additional trait that shouldn't be there... The last time anyone had one of the forbidden DNA traits, it started the war that left the ship derelict. Maybe the only way to fight the aliens... It is to become something from their nightmares...

the fact that an AI was used to read the text. minimal voice inflection mispronounced words.

I really disliked this book. it started off okay but rapidly deteriorated into almost middle school dialogue and plot line. it's the first book that I've never finished out of the hundreds of books that I have purchased from Amazon.

Poor narration.

This narrative is poor. It lacks proper voice inflection for story being told. The narrative is young juvenile at best. I will try one more book with the computer narrative and if it is the same I will not be getting any more audibles from Virtual Voice!

The storyline was ok, but the AI narration Is terrible

The storyline was ok. Not the best, not the worst and might have been better with a decent narrator. The Ai l's lack of inflection and using no differentiation in voice from one character to the next makes it hard to follow.

Delightfully snarky. I’m still chuckling!

The references made to popular science fiction culture made the characters relatable. Loved that the story doesn’t take itself too seriously. Can’t wait to see what happens next with the characters (my new friends). Thoroughly enjoyed their adventure so far.

Virtual voice is a good one, as those things go.
