Publisher's Summary

New York Times and USA Today best-selling author of science fiction, urban fantasy, and paranormal romance brings another action-, adventure-, and suspense-filled story to transport listeners out of this world.

Prince Viper d'Rojah, a warrior from the Sarafin cat shifter species, is not happy when he is sent on a special mission by his older brother, Vox, King of the Sarafin. The mission is to deliver important documents to the human authorities before kidnapping the sister and grandmother of Vox's mate, Riley. He has handled tougher assignments in his sleep and just wants to get back to finding the traitors trying to kill him and his family!

Tina St. Claire was finally happy with her life until her big sister, Riley, suddenly disappeared. Even Grandma Pearl suspected that Riley's ex-employer was hiding something. Determined to find Riley, Tina's research unwittingly leads the danger to her and Grandma Pearl. The unexpected arrival of a strange man causes things to go from bad to worse when he gives her and Grandma Pearl a packet of material he claims is from Riley. Riley had warned Viper that neither her sister nor Grandma Pearl would willingly come with him. Viper couldn't care less whether the females wanted to come or not; he had never failed a mission and wasn't about to start now.

Viper soon discovers this mission has turned into the most important one of his life when both he and his cat recognize that Tina is their mate. Now, he has to keep Tina and her gun-toting grandmother alive. The question is, who is going to save him when both women discover his plans to kidnap them?

VIPER'S LIFE AFTER TINA & GRANDMA PEARL!

Would you listen to Viper’s Defiant Mate again? Why?

Yes. I always listen to good stories more than once, twice - well many times! Especially when they have great characters, strongminded women and of course lots of funny moments. Poor Viper, but he was awarded with happiness in the end.

What did you like best about this story?

All the inter-action with the many secondary characters. Grandma Pearl is not as funny as Riley, but she rates right up there.

Which character – as performed by David Brenin – was your favorite?

Sorry - can't pick just one. David Brenin is the MAN! I could listen to him anytime anywhere - even if he was reciting the dictionary. B. J. Harrison (another narrator) is almost as good as David.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Ah, laughter mostly.

Any additional comments?

Good Job Susan.

3.5 Viper's Defiant Mate Stars

So this is book 2, and it’s the same world as the first, only it’s with Vox and Riley’s siblings.

I have to say I loved Viper and Tina’s story but I kinda liked Riley and Vox just a little bit more.

Oh does Tina put Viper though his passes.. It was hella funny and sweet how hard he fights to show her he wants her.

I love that he has to win over their grandmother as well. That was kinda sweet.

These females really don’t make it easy on a guy but what I love is that both males, really don’t give up. When they found there mates they did anything and everything to be with them and show them they are it for each other.

Swoony right! I know.
Great book, wonderful series, and the narrator awesome.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

I loved it.

The women are funny and the story keeps you intrigued. I liked that the heroine is underestimated. I can't wait for the next episode to come.

Was a very good story

It was not as good as the first book. It had its differences. Viper was supposed to be an assassin silent and hidden. His brother Vox is the one who does the great big blow up in your face attacks. Viper is setup as stealthy and invisible. Viper draws too much attention many times. It came together their skills in parts of the book. When she tricks him with the candy and the final battle where she keeps the villain's attention distracted. Those seem to be precise and silent moves. Not brute strength but acts of guile. I would have liked to see more of that but Viper was always honest and forward with Tina a little different temperament from a spy and assassin. I really liked the story. I will continue with the series.

I enjoy listening to this narrator

I have listened to many stories with this narrator and he makes the stories come to life.
Viper is sent to earth to retrieve Tina and Pearl so they can be there for Vox and Riley's wedding. He doesn't think much of human women. He thinks that most of them are weak and fragile in need of protection. But when he meets Tina and Pearl he sees the error of his ways.
Tina is trying to find her sister. She has confronted Riley's boss and taught him a lesson in the meantime by way of a busted tooth and unconsciousness. She also find incriminating evidence as to the crimes he has committed but still can't find her sister. When a man who claims to be a shape shifting alien from outer space also claims to know where her sister is, Tina uses a tranquilizer on him.
Join in this exciting adventure to find out what happens between these two and what the human criminals learn about trying to hurt women. I have fallen in love with all of the characters and world's that this author writes!

Another Entertainment Value

Viper is an alien cat shifting prince sent to Earth o collect his brother’s mate’s sister and grandmother to attend their wedding.
A wild and strong set of women, not afraid of putting buck shot in a man’s rear end, tax them, or pepper spray. The clueless Vioer realizes the sister is his mate and has no idea how to win her affections..
Humor, action, and fun ride with some mystery, danger and more stories to come...can’t wait.

I enjoyed the second chapter

I enjoyed this book but felt the end was rushed. I think it needed another chapter to flow better.

Loved this in ebook form but in audible OMG.

Loved this in ebook form but in audible OMG. The humorous antics at the beginning of this book had me laughing out loud. BOOK REVIEW Grandma Pearl made this book for me, what a character. Viper is highly insulted to be sent to earth to babysit two human women and bring them back to Baade. Poor Viper gets way more than he bargained for when he finally makes it to earth. In his own words ‘“I’ve been shot in the ass, multiple times, drugged, multiple times, locked in an animal cage, had my intestines melted, been captured and held in a prison cell.’ Tina is just as strong as her sister Riley but not as loud and argumentative. I really liked her and how she just got on and did things but would not be pushed past a certain point. Whilst I loved this story and all the carrying on and crazy humour that we enjoyed, I feel like Viper and Tina were not given enough star time in their relationship. It all started well, felt rushed on the ship then Tina just told Viper everything that was wrong in her life, said she had missed him and they were together and eloping. All of these stories overlap in time frame and whilst this can be read on its own it makes much more sense if you have read some of the other books in this series, like Cornering Carmen and Choosing Riley. I have reread this series so many times and still love it. Ms Smith’s books are my go to when I need to relax and laugh.
