The aliens didn't conquer Earth. They negotiated exclusive streaming rights instead.

Unbeknownst to humanity, the powerful Voltaxians controlled the galaxy, their vast empire fueled by their monopoly on mana. Humanity feared invasion, only to find out the godlike aliens had something far different in mind.

The Voltaxians offered a simple deal. Allow them to set up dungeons controlled by living intelligent dungeon cores on Earth to generate mana, and they'd share the wealth.

Dungeon explorers push into these intelligent dungeons and battle the monsters inside. All the while, these dungeon diving exploits are streamed and broadcast around the world and even into the galaxy via the alien-owned Dungeon Core TV.

A man used to be able to get by with loyalty and a strong back.

Luther Miller has little interest in dungeon diving. His father sacrificed their family ranch to send him to school. He's done his best to honor that sacrifice by devoting himself to his finance job in New York City. When his father passes way, Luther questions if his career is the best way to carry on the family name.

Family honor and intergalactic revenge intertwine in the dark depths of the dungeon.

Entertaining, Is a good listen and a lot of fun. The concept is creative, the pacing is solid, and it kept me entertained throughout. Definitely worth a listen if you enjoy dungeon stories.

This book was a decent serviceable product with good narration. The problem is the whole cowboy in the city schtick gets old, then it gets older. And older.

Three stars, but I'll get the next one.

Fun, dragged a bit.

The title of this story should be How to become the dungeon master you never wanted to be! He just stumbles into it!

Great start for an awesome new series. Good book!

Instead of stealing anyone away, or integrating the entire planet here come some aliens that just want to put a couple of "power plants" on earth and share a percentage of the wealth. The power plants come in the form of mana generating dungeons and peoples attention but us humans are more than willing to give attention to sone entertainment. Thus we have our story.

I kind of liked it.

Characters: I liked the main character well enough even though he is a bit cliche Texan but I can role with that. I even liked the depiction of the narcissist (not the girlfriend, but her wanting a guy she could 'fix" struck true as well). I liked the "mobsters" too.

Story: While the RPG system itself is underwhelming I did like the setup of the overall story and am interested.

Narration: Good. No complaints.

Overall: I got the first book for "free" with my subscription and am open to buying the rest of the series. I did not immediately jump to rest of series, however, as it seems only 3 of 6 are available on Audible. I put off this review intending on exploring why that is but didnt get around to it. I would hate to be left on a cliffhanger if I really get into it and book one ended in a single book acceptable way (except the big plot hook of course) so I am going to leave it for now and maybe swing back to this later. I will recommend for an easy, not annoying, LITRPG (unless you just hate goodie two shoe Texans...or spearmen).

Decent
