A great story with laughs, action, and feel
The amazing thing about this ongoing story about Indian Hill, is it ability to expand into new areas of action. Space. Ground. Dialog. Epic battles and it never gets old. Filled with actions that mirror absolute friendship, loyalty and the importance of survival. Mike still hovers with reality and not taking things too seriously. Deep down, he fully grasps the reality of everything happening but he protects himself with a armor of laughs. Often confusing or frustrating his friends and allies but giving all of us a good time.
And yet somehow in the midst of all this patent ridiculosity. It manages to be serious. An edge to whats really a state. Confusing the listener as to not be able to tell what will happen next. Pressure based, because you never know just who might perish from the next battle.
And at over five books at the time of this writing, it's hard to deny that this new chapter is epic. It will make you laugh like a kid at the circus. It will make tears spring to your eyes with laughter. It will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting more while still leaving you with a sense of gleeful satisfaction after nearly every chapter.
Indian hill introduced me to Michael Talbot. If you haven't heard of him in any of his parallel universe based stories, for the sake of all that is right, please do.
I highly recommend this tale. :)

Captivating and more than addictive!
What made the experience of listening to Victory's Defeat the most enjoyable?
Sean Runnette is a demigod in the world of audio performances.. If Mark Tufo ever decides Sean is not his guy.. I think he'll seriously regret it. Sean is Mike Talbot and Tracy and BT and Justin etc etc.. and they are all distinct. Like 30 characters all coming from one man.. just amazing.
Who was your favorite character and why?
They all are.. like taking one out is like deciding you'll take the banana out of a banana split.. would it be good? Probably. Would it be great? NO.
What about Sean Runnette’s performance did you like?
Perfection 0.5 through 10 and in Timothy so far too
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
of course
Any additional comments?
Just buy it.. start with 0.5-10 Zombie Fallout.. hopefully 11 soon. Then take a skip on over to Timothy for some really twisted and almost uncomfortable listening..we will be going to United States of Apocalypse next, Then Calis Rose, Then Indian Hill series. Then Lycan Fallout.
If you go to his web site or FB page you can get a chart of what order to read in.. sort of..
We are going to listen to the book of Riley just because.. but I think it may be a bit over priced.. basically one book chopped up into several.. so wait til these are on sale.

Love Mike but, he's getting obnoxious.
I love this series and, Marks other series's in general but, of late this one has been grinding on me. The reason is pretty much Michael Talbot's treatment of his old friend. Who as far as I can tell has been barely clinging to command for books now. He frequently disrespects and, undermines him even from the start before the Beth thing. All while refusing to take the actual responsibility of command. He'll show up to call Paul a piece of shit but, god forbid he actually tries to support him or give taking the lead a go. Honestly it's getting to the point where Mike pretends to be humble but, really on the down low he is an egomaniac who can't imagine he's could be the ass hole. Mark needs to ease up with the saint Michael routine.

Narrator always does a good job.
I returned this book because I can't bring myself to listen to another story along the Michael Talbot timelines that Mark Tufo is writing about. At first I really enjoyed the first Zombie books and the Indian Hill stories. But after so many books, one can start guessing how the story is going to go, what smart a** answers Talbot is going to give or what insane event will occur that Talbot will inadvertently find his way out of. I'm going to miss these stories but I cannot listen to another one again. Pick a series by Mark Tufo and stick with it. They are all good. I'm just burned out with trying to keep up with all of them. Honestly, they've begun to bleed together. Using the same characters didn't help. If Mr. Tufo starts another series that has nothing to do with Michael Talbot, I will buy it.

6th verse sames as the first (five)
Another Indian Hill novel follows the same blueprint as others in the past, Mike forms and unlikely alliance, does some crazy stuff and barely gets out by the skin of his teeth. Rinse and repeat. The ending left something to be desired as it leaves you on a cliffhanger but the addition of information related to D’s history at the end was nice. I’m sure I’ll be moving on in the series just to find out where Mike ends up next.
Sean Runnette does a wonderful job bringing the story to life as usual.

Another stonker of a story!
I love Mark Tufo's Zombie Fallout series but there are times when this Indian Hill series is my favourite. This is one of those times.
This latest story is full of everything you'd expect from Tufo; great characters, humour, excitement and pain. The progression of the war and the characters within it continues to thrill and feels so natural despite the subject matter. Enemies and alliances, friends and foes all battle through this book with Michael Talbot always the link between them. There are new characters to fall in love with, to fear, and to be wary of. And the play between BT and D is priceless. I found tears in my eyes more than once listening to this book. From both laughter and sadness.
Brilliant writing. Brilliant character development. (I know a character is written well when I feel the need to punch them myself for their behaviour!)
The second epilogue is a real treasure. Painfully bitter sweet. A story I'm both glad and sad to know.
As ever, Sean Runnette breathes life into Tufo's already lively words. His delivery is rich and his comic timing perfect. The voice of Mike Talbot will only ever be Sean Runnette for me.

Starting to get tiresome and predictable.
Loved these books at the start but now the story and narration is becoming tiresome and annoying. This chapter of the saga ends early with 2 hours of back story on one of the main characters at the end, making it painfully clear how this space battle will inevitably play out. How many more books can they knock out as poor as this before they get there is the question.

Almost exhausting, in a good way.
Great story, fantastic performance. Non stop excitement. So many twists and turns, the plot and scope of the story just grows. Hope we see the next book soon.

Brilliant
As good as the previous books and possibly better. Drababen and BT meet and it becomes epic. And Beth is off the bloody rails, i'm not going to say anymore other than you will love it.

Story
Jack Walker and Michael Talbot come from two worlds; the same, yet different. They both find themselves transported into an alien one, where things aren’t as they seem. While it appears similar to the ones they come from, there are some terrifying differences. Is it a dream? Or has reality been somehow warped? Jack comes from a world filled with nocturnal creatures that were once human, but now seek to destroy the last vestiges of humanity.
