From Rob Thomas, the creator of the television series and movie phenomenon Veronica Mars, comes the first book in a thrilling mystery series that picks up where the feature film left off.

Ten years after graduating from high school in Neptune, California, Veronica Mars is back in the land of sun, sand, crime, and corruption. She’s traded in her law degree for her old private investigating license, struggling to keep Mars Investigations afloat on the scant cash earned by catching cheating spouses until she can score her first big case.

Now it’s spring break, and college students descend on Neptune, transforming the beaches and boardwalks into a frenzied, week-long rave. When a girl disappears from a party, Veronica is called in to investigate. But this is no simple missing person’s case; the house the girl vanished from belongs to a man with serious criminal ties, and soon Veronica is plunged into a dangerous underworld of drugs and organized crime. And when a major break in the investigation has a shocking connection to Veronica’s past, the case hits closer to home than she ever imagined.

In Veronica Mars, Rob Thomas has created a groundbreaking female detective who’s part Phillip Marlowe, part Nancy Drew, and all snark. With its sharp plot and clever twists, The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line will keep you guessing until the very last page.

Reseñas de la Crítica

Praise for the television series Veronica Mars

A Time, Entertainment Weekly, and Salon Best Show of the Year

“Nancy Drew meets Philip Marlowe, and the result is pure nitro.” —Stephen King

"Best. Show. Ever. Seriously, I've never gotten more wrapped up in a show I wasn't making, and maybe even more than those. . . . These guys know what they're doing on a level that intimidates me. It's the Harry Potter of shows." —Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy and writer/director of Marvel's The Avengers

"Classic California film noir. . . . Raymond Chandler in its writing." —The Seattle Times

“Sharp wits, steely nerves, and a wicked sense of humor. . . . This is one TV case we don’t want to see closed.”—USA Today

“It’s what lies deeper that not only makes the show remarkable but what defines it. Mysteries are its central metaphor; Veronica solves little puzzles because she, like all of us, cannot unravel the bigger ones. . . . Filled with deft, glorious wit.” —Entertainment Weekly

Where does Veronica Mars rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This has been one of the better books that I have listened to.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kristen Bell did a great job of narrating for her character, Veronica, as well as all the other characters.

Any additional comments?

I listened to this book right after I saw the movie and I have to say, it felt just like watching an episode of the show or the movie. It was really fun. Hope there are more.

Awesome

What did you love best about Veronica Mars?

This book follows the recently released movie, even though I think someone could still catch on without having watched the movie. I loved the television series and this gives me more of what I loved. Great story by the same person that penned the TV series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Veronica Mars. Well, because it was read by Kristen a.k.a. Veronica Mars. Witty banter and smart crime solving!

Which scene was your favorite?

Hard to answer without giving too much away, so I will say the last 1/4 of the book.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Veronica and her dad near the end of the book.

Any additional comments?

Wanted more Logan. Not sure I like Rob's idea to make him a career military man and detach him from the story. That was a bummer. Veronica is key, but her banter and relationship with Logan is part of the greatness of series. Do better next book, Rob!!!

I So Missed Veronica Mars

I really love the V. Mars series. I was really upset when it was taken off of television, and I was just as excited when I heard it was going to be a movie and book series. However, the book fell short. The series was more first person, which added an wonderful element to the plot. The book, which could have done first person easily, didn’t. The book did not captivate as well as the show did. Still, the overall story wasn’t bad.

Not as good as the show

Fantastic follow up to the Veronica Mars series and Movie. It was easy to picture all of the well known characters and Kristen Bell's narration brought you right back to Neptune.
The story had all the right twists and turns one comes to expect in any VM mystery, as well as some shocking surprises. As a fan of the show, I was more than pleased.

Classic Veronica Mars!!!!
