Publisher's Summary

"From across the fire, a grin spread over her face, combining delight and pure, raw power.

I could not deny the power of the chanting, the swirling red hair, my painting prophecy and the - holy crap - electric bubble around us.

This was real. Her power was real."

Triumphant at last, Ember has fought her way back from the evil witch's curse and reclaimed her identity, her sense of self. Now she must stop Xintra from hurting the boy she loves, even as she uncovers the truth behind her mother's dark, twisted past.

Rejoicing in her power over the human race, Xintra is closer than ever to achieving her father's dream - a dream she sacrificed her own life to realize. But when key members of her team defy her, she must scramble to enact her plan before obedience gives way to anarchy.

Breaking free from the chains that once bound her to a life of wickedness, Zoe must face the past she once sought to escape in order to save the futures of those she doomed. Will she make amends with the dead in time to save the living?

Great finale

Fantastic ending to the series.
I went into this series blind. The author is new to me and I didn't know anything about it, other that the fact it sounded interesting.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this series and by how fresh the story stayed even as it used elements that are common to the genre.

I highly recommend this series.
Listened to all 3 books on audible and narrator is great.
Good voice, tone and inflection.
She didn't just read the books, she infused the story and brought the characters to life.

Book 3

The writing is colorful and descriptive with fantastic details my imagination begged more to listen with a clear and great narration.. Blend this with an amazing, unforgettable cast of characters and a haunting, twisting plot

Great end to a series

Oh Jennifer Alsever - you tortured the souls of Ember, Tre, and all your listeners throughout your Trinity Forest series (in a good way - well us, not them so much They were literally tortured and that was bad). Thank you for giving them and us the ending we all deserved. Probably not the ending we wanted necessarily but certainly one that satisfied and left us with a sense of full circle and after the previous books of more-questions-than-answers endings, this was a very good thing.

Picking up right where Oshun Rising left off, Venus Shining again pulls multiple point of views, allowing the listener/reader to experience the story at different levels. Having the added storyline of Zoe/Nisha and her awakening and journey to sabotage the evil doings of Zintra was fabulous. The madness of Zintra juxtaposed against the passionate search of Ember for her love Tre made for a great backdrop but the action packed mayhem of the impending apocalypse was what drove the story for me. Assassins, world wide weather events, a Scooby gang banding together to save the day - how fun is that? The writing remains tightly woven with strong characters, great dialogue and clever plot twists.

As for the audio narration, Moira Todd continues to do an outstanding job narrating. Her range of characters keeps the story fresh and exciting as each chapter changes perspective. Once again, Ms. Todd is the key to making this audiobook one that a reader cannot stop listening to!

Great series and satisfying ending

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Jennifer Alsever. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

This is the final showdown, the third book in the Trinity Forest trilogy, and it all ends here. One way or the other. Either Ember and her friends can stop the apocalypse, or Xintra wins.

I enjoyed the story playing out the final way. I liked that we got a lot more answers, and got to understand how Ember's mom played into this.

I liked the narrator's tone and voice, as in the previous two books, she was enjoyable to listen to and had great pacing.

My only complaint is too much was going on. There were too many POV switches in the book, and the voices for each were not distinct enough. I often struggled with knowing who was narrating that section when I came back to it from a break in listening.

I did enjoy that we had people waking from their, well essentially possession, and taking action to stop the big bad witch. Overall, a great series and a satisfying ending. 3,5 stars.

Excellent Story!

I received this audio book for free in exchange for my honest review. Both the writing and narration are phenomenal in this excellent story. I'm sure that you will love it as much as I did.

I just love this whole series!!!

I really enjoyed this book, just as I've enjoyed the last two. In this book you will not only continue to see things that are going on through the eyes of our main charaters but also you will get a glimpse into the life of Ember's mom before she died and I really liked getting to see that. You know from the other books that she visited Trinity but that's it. These books are so full and well woven together and I struggle to not give things away in my reviews because they are so great to exspierence as a whole. I would highly recommend this series! I did receive a free copy of this audiobook to be able to honestly review it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Best of the Series

I've listened to all of Jennifer Alsever's Trinity Forrest series, and this is my favorite of the three. The story line is more focused, and the pace drives nicely. No villains are true villains and no heroes are true heroes. Every character has demons and drives. I was very satisfied with how everything got wrapped up. My only complaint is that Ember doesn't sing in this book; I hope she hasn't lost her passion for music after coming back from Oshun. Would absolutely recommend for lovers of paranormal YA.
