If you’re looking for magic...
A great second installment. The plot twists are deeper and more than that of the first book. Fair warning, you’re going to get frustrated, you’ll kick, scream, want to shake people, all while not wanting to put down this twisted tale.
Narrator is great, good character differentiations and pace of reading.
Parents: reference to intimate relationships, gore, and a fair amount of blood.
Highly recommend this series.

They began rebuilding and learning their new roles after the battle. There's romance and a little adventure. This was a great continuation of the first book. I can't wait to see what happens next.

A Proper Sequel Indeed!
I am writing this review with the assumption that the reader has already read Shadows of Lela, the prequel.
I absolutely love this story and the characters and I feel like Odette has taken me on a new and marvelous journey in this second installment! I am especially grateful that it didn't feel like TOO much information was being pushed onto me at once.
I do remember feeling a bit disappointed that the romance wasn't as slow-burn as I would have liked in the first book, but I do really enjoy what Odette did to sort of halt the advancement of the relationship in Veil of Mist! It gave me time to process Terren's and Cora's relationship and actually root for them to be together in the end!!
The ending of this book isn't exactly a cliff hanger, but the reader doesn't have all the information or puzzle pieces to be left satisfied. So I am very much left hungry for more!!
I do enjoy listening to Faye, but sometimes her accent gets to me. It sounds a bit fake especially in words like "possible". The "ble" seems like it's rounded out too much. But overall, I really enjoy her tone and the way she expresses each character. I did hear the mic change the way it picked up sound a couple times, as if it was going from stereo to mono, so that was weird. But all in all, I really enjoy the way Faye brings everyone to life!

Tessonja Odette delivers another epic adventure
I just finished listening to "Veil of Mist" and I have so many thoughts swirling in my mind. When I first started it, I kind of dreaded it thanks to the blurb announcing Teryn's faux de pas, but I think once I got over it (it wasn't as bad as I thought), I got so invested in the story some things stopped bothering me (like the fact I could stand only for so long Larylis' and Mareleau's voices). //
With this sequel, Tessonja Odette delivers another epic adventure with far greater and darker ramifications than the first. There's more danger and twists, the story delves more into some characters' pasts, it transports the readers to other realms and introduces new characters, all while leaving one with the question, will it end in a cliffhanger? //
As for the narrator, besides the aforementioned "but", I think she did a great job with the voices of all the characters both good and evil, as well as with the new ones and the foreign accents (though with English being my second language, it took me a bit to get used to the elven accent). I also think there was a "repetition" of sorts in one of the last chapters, but other than that, her performance was really good and definitely gives continuity to the series. ~ 4.5 stars

Soooo Amazing!
OMG, I totally love this book! It might have been better than the first book, and that book was fantastic. I love the beautiful writing style that Tessonja Odette has. When she writes, she completely transforms the reader into a new world. Since I've been listening to this book, I've been bugging my poor husband about going on an adventure. (The poor man has no idea what to do with me! lol). Although, without a unicorn of my very own, I will probably be disappointed. Speaking of unicorns, I am absolutely in love with Valor. I loved how the narrator did his voice, and all of the voices and accents in this book. She really did an amazing job with both books. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

okay, okay, No!! what the heck, it started off so good the happy ending at the 1st book started with a happy beginning in this book just to get destroyed. What the actual F#@%.
It was so full of joy, anger, betrayal, lies, death, and so much more. The hell both couples went through ,the sadness and hurt. but one lie came true. and the two find happiness at the end again. so let see what happens in book 3 hopefully everything stays good. 🤔🤫🤔🙄😬🤯🥺😯🤬🤬🤬💔💗☠☠

So Much Better
This second book is voiced so much better than the first one! The guys don't all sound evil now. I still think Mare was spoiled, but it seems like by the end of this, she does a lot of maturing! This was filled with twists and turns and many surprises.

So how do you top Book 1?
My main concern coming in...the previous book had a thrilling plot, satisfying conclusion,..how do you follow that? Rather, how do you follow that AND make me feel like it was worth my time?
Well...I won't spoil it by saying how, but the author did present an intriguing follow-up that kept me pondering how Cora,Teryn, and the other good royalty combat the new darkness that threatens them. As the plot thickened, I felt satisfied with the development of the disturbing antagonist.
I enjoyed Emma Faye's reading once again, I think even more for this book than the previous one. Maybe I'm more used to the characters and found it easier to get into. Nonetheless, her character voices sounded appealing and easy to recall who was who, which I often have problems with.
I'm looking forward to hearing Book 3

Epic Fantasy Adventure
Veil of Mist builds on the already epic magical world of Lela. I loved listening to the growth and expansion of the world and it's characters. Tessonja has weaved an intricate plot of magical mystery, tragic romance, and sweeping adventure. Emma Faye's performance brings these characters to life with a rich emotional performance, enhanced by subtle character nuance. With clean content appropriate for the age group, it managed to challenge the audience with it's depth. In the crowded genre of YA fantasy, this book stands out as being as rare and magical as the unicorns themselves.
