Publisher's Summary

When Day and Night combine and fight against one Enemy, then Dark and Light shall meet mid-strike and set the Captives free.

In the wake of loss and devastation, Alex must cast aside her grief to seek aid from those who banished the Meyarins long ago. But the proud Tia Aurans care little for the woes of mortals and demand that Alex - and her friends - undergo the Gates of Testing to prove their world is worth saving.

With an ancient prophecy looming, Alex must confront the secrets of her past if she is to survive long enough to see the future. For if she returns to Medora without the Tia Aurans by her side, all hope will be lost.

In this explosive conclusion to The Medoran Chronicles, the fate of Medora hangs in the balance as Alex readies herself to face Aven one final time.

Who will survive, and who will fall?

If, however, darkness wins, there is no strategy to keep from all that will be lost, and so will always be.

So emotional

I read all 5 books in a couple days and it was so emotional, especially number 4. in the beginning I wasn't sure I'd like it so much but man did I ever! I never actually cried listening to a story but this I did several times. I wish it wasn't over. I'm sad that it is. ;(

Good series, but…

For such a good, almost great story, you’ve made the hero/main character so weak that at times I felt like just stopping the series

a lot of crying

I've loved this whole series of books including this roller coaster of a final enstallment. But I had to take breaks from listening to be able to continue, as I was crying so much.

Loved it!!

So glad the original narrator returned for this last book! Loved the story, this time it actually had some twists that weren’t obvious so it was much more surprising and entertaining, the characters became even sweeter with each other and it was just so nice to hear all the friendships developing even more, especially in different situations, it was ended perfectly I think, I really enjoyed it, I’m glad I persevered through the last book when I wasn’t sure about the change in narration because it was worth it for this book to end it all!

The most immature protagonist not developing throughout

The whole series was painful to listen to, unfortunately more often then not. The story line would have been decent if not for whiny, overdramatised protagonist Alex. Although I understand the naivety and immaturity due to age, for some who supposed to save the world the character didn’t learn from her own mistakes, kept secrets which were hindering her progress, made absolutely weird and catastrophic choices. Her heart was shattering most of the time, predominately as a
results of her own actions, her emotions were unbearable to stomach, and prompted me to skip the long stretches of emotional garbage which would have been fine if kept to couple of lines instead of lasting what felt like pages. Shame

Predictable ending but decent story

I feel like the ending was drawn out. Too much was predictable and I didn’t get why Alex had to overcome soooooo much when readers knew her fate. I also usually get morals from every book but I struggled to find the moral here…believe in yourself? Even if that’s what it was, it wasn’t very clear! I also felt her character started become unlikeable in this book. Very moany. However, it was an interested read and I did like the relationships that were built and explained. The sad thing is I probably won’t remember this story in giver years but I am glad I read all the books.

An utter disappointment after the masterpiece of Graevale

Arkanae and Graevale were fantastic fantasy escapes. Both making me laugh at times. One making me cry. But unfortunately Vardaesia was nothing like the brilliance of those two books. It was too long. Too tedious. Too soppy. On and on and on and on it went. More trials. More riddles. And an inordinate amount of useless information and events.

After living through all the training sessions and tests of the previous books, it felt like an endless delay to go through the Gates in Vardaesia. All pointless time wasting in the end.

Plus Kaiden was like a pillow offering soppy softie support, rather than a heart pounding interesting character. Their interactions were a mix between cringe and sappy overripe peaches.

The story dragged. By the end, everytime Alex would name all the races fighting around her at every single endless location, I wanted to just yell Stop myself.

I skipped over some unnecessary whining and describing. That happened more and more as nothing meaningful happened for pages. The only other thing that seem to happen, was endless conversations about nonsense.

The ending was like a soap opera sprinkled with rushed gibberish and over sentimentality. Urgh.

Where the rest of the series was a masterpiece of brilliance, this was an utter disappointment. While I could still get onboard with the storyline, the writing was an overindulgent failure.

wow what a way to end the series! I do hope there is more in this stroy. Would love a what has happened 10 years later without giving the ending away to this book. I truly love Lynette's work and hope the rest of her career is as good as this series was. A must read for all ages!

Bad friends!

Her loyal friends that have been with her for years through many dangerous adventures and trust her with their lives turn on her at the drop of a hat. The first time was unbelievable but for them to do it again 2 days later is just idiotic.
I’m stopping at chapter 21 before they get over it just to probably turn on her again.

What a ride!

Books like these are the reason I read. I could not take my ears away. The ultimate adventure series. At times my Aussie brain was mildly distracted upon hearing Australian colloquialisms delivered in an American accent, but I can't deny that the performance was spot on. 5 stars all round and I'd happily pimp this series to anyone.

Can’t believe it’s over

This series is incredible. I have always been a big reader, but never before have I felt to totally and completely immersed in a book. The way Lynette Noni has made me feel throughout this series is nothing short of amazing. I have experienced every emotion, audibly gasping, crying, cheering when the moment calls for it. The unwavering loyalty of Alex’s friends. The support of her academy. Her parents.. the whole story is perfect. I am very sad that it’s over, but the way it ended oh my goodness I couldn’t have asked for anything more. This story had me hooked at every turn. Everything about it is magical.
Carly Robins is a fantastic narrator and puts her heart and soul into this series which made it all the more enjoyable, but also more gut wrenching as you could feel the emotion she was portraying. 10/10 for me.
