Mother, wife, private investigator... vampire. Six years ago, federal agent Samantha Moon was the perfect wife and mother, your typical soccer mom with the minivan and suburban home. Then the unthinkable happens, an attack that changes her life forever. And forever is a very long time for a vampire.
Now, in Vampire Moon, sequel to Moon Dance, private investigator Samantha Moon finds herself hunting down a powerful crime lord and protecting an innocent woman from her ruthless ex-husband—all while two very different men vie for her heart. And as the stakes grow higher and her cases turn personal, Samantha Moon will do whatever it takes to protect the innocent and bring two cold-blooded killers to justice—her own brand of justice.

I enjoyed this book. A lot of action including questionable morales. Great character development, storyline & plot. The mysterious Fang...I have a suspicion as to who it is.Book 2

At this point her code of honor is more visible and we are privy to her internal motivations which aren't always benign. She is growing into a full character and her conscience is evident.
This story has her fighting crime concurrent to solving a mystery. It's now evident that she knows more about her kind and other immortals. She shares candidly without the fear of judgement as she considers the outcomes worthy of the questionable actions that precede them.
Dina Pearlman gives a good vocal performance and achieves identifiable diversity with new characters while cementing those from the first Moon tale.
The story, acting and total package are worthy of four stars and a future purchase of the next installment.

The thread of story dealing with Sam's ex-husband was well done - very frustrating and before the end of the book, you'll want to smack Danny too. Is the whole thing believable? Sure, for the most part. Sam wants to maintain a normal life even though she is not normal any more, and she does a good job of balancing being a vampire, having to work for a living, and trying to stay in contact with her children.
The story is short. It's not sold as a short story, but it probably could be (or, - dare I? - should be) packaged with book 1 and book 3 and sold as one, nearly complete, story. There was a bigger 'cliffhanger' in this book than in book one, but it wasn't as obnoxious a cliffhanger as some other books I've read (i.e. you probably will not feel ripped off at the end, even though you might want to read the next to find out who Fang turns out to be).
The narration is good, as good, or better than the first novel as the narrator seems to have settled into Sam's character now.
Good character development in a short novel
