Publisher's summary

There's no going back to Earth. The only way forward is through hell.

After the explosive events surrounding MPF6's destruction on Karkin Four, Wic and his team of daredevil operators join forces with the rebel force known as the Blood Guard. While the Phantoms desire to help relocate human refugees to safer worlds, they're forced to confront a more pressing objective: cut off the head of the beast and keep the Androchidan Empire from enslaving another world.

Wic is immediately flung into the heat of battle, driven by retaliation, a need for justice, and the need to send a message to all other deviant species who'd wish to take advantage of the innocent: don't even think about it.

However, when a convert mission goes sideways, and key Blood Guard operatives turn up missing, Phantom Team must decide just how far they're willing to go to stop an alien species from wreaking havoc in the galaxy.

Tensions mount as the empire's high command closes in for the kill. Lies spread, secrets abound, and betrayal runs like blood in the streets. Will Sir Chuck provide critical intel in time to save the team? Can Wic pull one more hat trick against a world-conquering foe?

Find out in Valley of the Dead, the fifth nail-biting, white-knuckle episode of the acclaimed Ruins of the Earth series by Christopher Hopper and J.N. Chaney.

new and extremely lacking narrator bring back r.c. brey

Disliked the new narrator immensely. voices were horrible especially for the talking gun chuck who was supposed to sound like John Cleese.not even close. took so much longer to get through this episode because it just wasn't as exciting, or entertaining. very very disappointing. probably will end buying any more from this once really good saga. unless they find a better narrator.

Narrator Change

The narrator change is still a-bit much, have not grown used to the change in voices, but it’s understandable.

new narrator takes some getting used to

it's jarring to go from rc bray to the new guy, but it's understandable how the best narrators can have booked schedules. it took about two chapters for the new narrator to get into the groove, but afterwards it was a decent listen

New voices same spirit

Changing a narrator is difficult, especially with the previous having given such life to the characters. Despite this change the spirit of the characters and adventure of the story was delivered.

changing narrators

wish you would have kept rc bray, it's hard to follow characters when the voice changes

Skeptical about the new narrator

At first, I was a bit skeptical to go about the new narrator. He did a very good job. Most of the characters voices were pretty close to the previous books. I believe the only one I had trouble with was Aaron and Hollywood. Pretty much everyone else sounded as close to the previous versions as, he could make it sound. Overall, good story good narration so I was happy.

New narrator?

5 books in they changed the narrator. Changed the whole feel of the book and characters. Nothing against the new narrator but you can’t do that. I returned it and won’t finish the series.

Story was good, but why change narrator

The narrator did an ok job reading the words off the page. I did not feel as immersed in the story as I did with RC Bray. The voices done for the different characters threw me off for quite awhile. I felt like I was listening to C-3PO, Med Flanders, and someone from jersey shore.

Not bad, I had tears.

This book really pulls you into the characters. Even knowing the end doesn’t help you not feel like you were there. I’m now hooked and wait g for the next one.
