Publisher's Summary

A shocking twist of fate reunites a quiet school teacher with her childhood nemesis and greatest love.

Shy and modest Lina Montez has been infatuated with Tobias Langthorne, heir to a Napa Valley land fortune, for as long as she can remember. Growing up alongside the intoxicatingly handsome bully on his family’s fabled vineyard and estate was an experience she will never forget. The young “lord of the manor” spent countless hours tormenting the housekeeper’s daughter as well as inspiring her budding sexual desire.

Ten years later, Lina finds Tobias as provocative and dangerous as ever, but embittered by divorce and haunted by his own demons of the past. Now Lina must battle her old playmate to save the land she loves, but this time she won’t be intimidated by her sexually magnetic business partner. The biggest struggle of all, however, is the one within herself. Can she fight off an attraction that is as ripe and full bodied as the lush cabernet grapes they farm? And will she breathe new life into the forsaken ranch as well as polish the rust from her tarnished hero?

I loved this romance!

I binge-read this! The characters were complex and the plot line was exciting. The tension between Tobias and Lina kept building and building! And the narrator gave me goosebumps. Highly recommend!

Dreams can come true!

I love Tessa Bowen's books. However, this may be a personal hangup of mine but the the constant repetition of "Tobias Langthorne" was extremely annoying to me and I almost stop listening to the book. I did keep listening and I really enjoyed the rest of this story. The author shows that dreams can come true but there may be many roadblocks along the way. We also see the characters growing and maturing. The narrator does an excellent job of portraying these characters emotions and feelings. His voice is so easy to listen to and enjoy. I asked to receive this Audible book and voluntarily wrote this unbiased review. I do recommend this Audible book.

I Want This Bad Boy!

I almost stopped reading this book. The male lead was so obnoxious to start off. A few chapters later, I was head over heels in love with Tobias! He is one gorgeous hunk of bad boy; the kind you know you shouldn't love but can't help loving anyway. I love the way Lena talks to herself about Toby! So enlightening. This is a fantastic book with a happy ending!

Heart-achingly beautiful

The unconditional love that Lina has for Toby is admirable. The rugged, unfiltered and patient connection that the two share is one for the books. Lina’s caring qualities is so real and undying for the boy she loves since she was a teen. Comes to show that love comes in all shapes, sizes and ethnicities. I loved it was multi racial and feel more authors need to do that. Definitely can’t wait to listen to the entire series.

Wimpy heroine that accepts abuse

How did this book get such good ratings! Growing up on the same property, not really friends. He is often mean with his actions and comments, tormenting her. Yet, she insists she is in love with him, she allows him to take advantage; no self esteem.
Then the are adults and return to where they grew up. He is angry and mean, she allows this, with some mild attempts to "fight back".
SPOILER ALERT: Even though his is rude and aggressive, she is unable to deny sexual actions, at least to significant degree. She melts because he is so "hot". Eventually, she does leave, in the process, he rapes her. Eventually, they meet up, discuss. He is aggressive and demanding, suddenly, for the last part of the book he is caring and considerate. The self talk on her part was middle school. As I read it, I thought maybe a man had written this book, to make the woman so weak.

I would have wanted to know more about the "relationship" before buying, thus, will be returning it.
Also, poor research on the medical portion (a small segment of the book).

Talking goes a long way

Lina has had a crush on Tobias since she was eight years old never thinking that her crush would turn into true love it just takes time. Tobias is back in town after being away years dealing with his father's estate and the surprise that Lina was left half the estate. Now these two have to get over old childhood crushes to make something of this farm. These two characters were people that you car d about from beginning to end. The Narration of the story was great and kept me engaged. Can't wait to get to the other books in this series.

Enjoyable Listen

I quite enjoyed Valley Fever. This is the first book I have listened to or read by this author but I would definitely pick up another one. I enjoyed watching the two main characters navigate their relationship throughout the story. I thought they were perfect for each other. I thought there was just enough drama...though the back and forth between them was a little annoying but only because you know they belong together and want them to hurry up and get past it all. I liked the narrator as well very easy to and pleasant to listen to. I would recommend this book to others.

Enticing

Book 1 in the series. This story kept my attention the entire time. My heart went out to Lina and I wanted to punch Tobias in the throat most of the time. When you think the story is coming to an end there are still hours left. Logan was an awesome narrator for this book because he can pull off the character of Tobias perfectly (he is a manly man). I was able to have a clear picture in my head of what was happening because of his awesome narration. I recommend this whole series.

Tobias Langthorne

This is the story of Tobias and Lina from their young lives through adulthood. Lina loved Toby but he was always mean to her but through it all she still loved him. He finally comes around and sees Lina for who she is as well as the beautiful Langthornes.

Logan McAllister did a good job narrating this story.

I received a code to listen and review and give my honest opinion. It's a 3 star for me. The story is a little long and Lina's love of repeating Tobias Langthorne throughout is a little childish but they get their HEA in the end.

enjoyable

I loved this book. Toby and Lina were a great couple with heaps of chemistry. The banter was fun and made me laugh out loud. I was irritated however with Toby calling Lina LEE-NA and Lina not marrying Toby when he asked was so frustrating. Logan's voice was sexy and deep and bought the characters to life.

Sweet

The main reason I gave the 4 star rating was the constant annoying repetitive “Tobias Longhorn...” throughout the book. Lina has been in love with Tobias since she was a child, and she also has always thought of him being above her. This attitude seemed to have grown as she faced him again, and Tobias came back home broken. Lina had helped him through the rough time. He faces difficulties in having Lina see how he’s grown to care for her, all she seems to see is his reputation. They have a long history, and very epic chemistry. The story is long, but I loved the narrator Logan!

Fantastic book 1

Book 1 in the series. Like how Tessa took a couple that had different parts and out looks in life . When they stop and see what’s important they will realize that they belong together.
Hero is Tobias. Heroine is Lina

Lina has had feelings for Tobias since she can remember. She thinks nothing will come of it since her mother is a maid to the family. Meanwhile Tobias is the heir .

Tobias thinks that he can get away with calling her names , grabbing her , being crude to Lina. Lina is hopping that he will realize what he is doing and change .
When Lina leaves the vineyard and she makes a life for herself and then she comes back that’s when Tobias realizes what he really feels for her .

Logan did a great work telling this story. He did great work doing the characters. His voice is strong, clear and smooth

Amazing!

Ms. Bowen's steamy and detailed writing tugs at the heartstrings and is very hard to put down. The details place you right in the vineyard and you can almost smell the soil. The character development made me cry, scream, smile and laugh. Ms. Bowen never disappoints.

The combination of Ms. Bowen's writing with the sultry voice of Mr. McAllister makes this a very pleasant listen that I could not put down. I'm happy to know that there are at least two more books in this series, and I cannot wait to start the next one!

I was provided with a free copy of this audio book for my honest review. The views expressed here are entirely my own.

Valley Fever

I loved the love/ hate roller coasters ride of this story. The story starts off with the guy aka Tobias being a douchbag, but in his defense he was a teenager/ young adult. Lina is a teenager as well and infatuated with Tobias.

The story well have laughing, crying and wanting to punch or slap some sense into these characters. Through out the story I found myself wanting to smack Tobias upside the head.

The story was very well written and the characters were developed to making you think this was a real life train wreck.

The narration of this book is amazing. The narrator does a fabulous job with the characters that bring them to life. Logan McAllister does an excellent job with the voice of each character! At first when I started listening I thought what type of voice is this narrator trying to this voice of Tobias he made it sound funny at the beginning. It took a little bit to get use to. When trying to make Tobias sound drunk if was off, but got better as it went.

I definitely recommend this book!

It’s a great story.
