Publisher's Summary

The United States has experienced its share of turmoil over the years. Although not particularly as war-torn or stricken with genocide and violent crime as other nations, over time, gun violence and terror attacks have become commonplace on American soil.

Never before has the United States been subjected to widespread coordinated terrorist attacks, devastating enough to bring the entire nation to its knees. Until now.

In this first volume of his Gun Play series, postapocalyptic author C.A. Rudolph will engage you with the tale of two families from wholly diverse walks of life: a husband and wife immersed in a clandestine existence of murder for hire, espionage, and intrigue, and a mainstream middle-class family of six.

Each will find themselves affected by an onslaught of terror attacks the likes of which the world has never seen. Each must learn to survive...or succumb.

A silent enemy lurks among them, and no one knows when they plan to strike. When they do, it will only be a matter of time Until Nothing Remains.

Excellent twist!!!

I feel like I barely spent time with these characters before the book ended. This book introduced a new twist of events to kick off a SHTF scenario. Refreshing change and thought provoking!!! I look forward to reading the next book.

As always, the voice of the apocalypse performed well!

C.A. Rudolph does it again.

I am a huge fan of C.A. Rudolph's What's Left of My World series so I was excited to see he was coming out with a new series, and while this series falls into same genre they are quite different, especially when it comes to main characters. No spoilers but for the most part the book focuses on two groups who are dealing with society breaking down as terrorists try to kickoff the apocalypse, one focusing on a badass husband/wife duo, and another on a prepper family. While the two stories don't really intersect until the very end and then only minutely, both are fascinating and I can't wait to see where C.A. takes the story in the next volume. The book in loaded with interesting characters and tons of action.

As always Kevin Pierce delivers a excellent performance, once again showing why he is THE voice of survival fiction.

Intense Post-apocalypse!

This is my first post apocalypse (right as everything starts) that I have read. The other one was I Am Legend by Richard Matheson...which is more of after the event happening.

The story was well written in such great details as to cause/effect of the economy, the way the government would react, and as well as other nations. Don't want to go into such detains, but will guarantee that you will be pleased. You can tell that a lot of background research was done to accomplish the realistic of this book. Also reminds me of, in a way, pieces of Clear and Present Danger, and The Sum of All Fears. There is some strong language as well.

So if you are looking for a story that will keep you listening up-till 3AM, then this is your companion!

C.A. Rudolph did a fantastic job with the story and everything in between. Great ob as well to the Narrator Kevin Pierce. Great job in character voices and accents!

Excellent novel!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I proved this voluntary review.

I typically listen to several novels a month during my daily commute. My preferred genre is post apocalyptic novels. I enjoy store lines in which the author takes the time to build the main character's background, instead of simply throwing them into unbelievable situations. This novel does not disappoint!
The author gives the listener a through background of each main character without dragging down the story line. There is also enough suspense, and 'gun play' to keep the listener engaged without it becoming boring.
The narrator also does an awesome job, as always.
I eagerly await book two of this series.

Dead-Man's switch on the Apocalypse is released!

First, I wasn't sure of this one from the sample. It sounded like a hate novel. Fortunately, that was deceptive. Look for another clip to represent this book.
I agree with the party that found this book over way to soon. Rudolph can tell a compelling story. You will want more, so let's hope he gets the next out quickly.
The story crosses genres, including action thriller, apocalyptic, espionage with a little prepper thrown in and CA Rudolph blends the genres masterfully. The characters are a bit bigger than life but have enough depth to keep your interest and root for them (even the wife-husband assassin team). The plot is not hard to believe given real world events and the results and reactions already witnessed (shiver here).
Kevin Pierce gives a superior performance and drives the action like a Daytona race car. I'm going to look for more of his work.
Other reviewers give a good description of the story so I won't rehash. I will say that I was impressed by my first taste of CA Rudolph's talents.

Gun Play a Different Kind of Post Apocalyptic Tale

Wow! All I can say is Wow.
Political Intrigue coupled with Post Apocalyptic Chaos. I am so looking forward to the second book in this series.
Quinn and Natalia, two assassins changing the world for the better and a Prepper dad and his family struggling to live through the crisis with lots of teen drama included.

Two major story-lines crisscrossing back and forth really made this like getting two books in one. One Line Political intrigue, the other a family facing the Apocalypse and just as the story ends the two lines come together.

It was a very enjoyable listen, with Kevin Pierce doing another amazing job narrating!

This book is definitely a keeper!

While I was given this book in exchange for a review, I have reviewed the book honestly to the best of my ability. I would never recommend a book to someone else if I would not purchase it myself

Refreshing new take on apocalyptic fiction

As a fan of CA Rudolph and Kevin Pierce, I was excited to listen to the first volume of Rudolph’s new series, and I was not disappointed. Rudolph has crafted an entirely new take on the genre with interesting and likable characters. The book ends when the main characters — a husband and wife assassin team and an ordinary family — finally connect. I look forward to discovering what happens next.

Kevin Pierce’s narration was on point, handling several different accents with ease.

My only criticism is something that is a particular pet peeve of mine and may not bother other readers. I have noticed in the author’s previous novels that he tends to use unusual words that don’t sound natural for his characters, and this was even more apparent— and distracting— in this book. (For example, “vacating our suite in rapid fashion” instead of “quickly leaving our suite;” or “after her shift concluded” instead of “after her shift ended/was over.”) Overall, this is a minor complaint, and I enjoy Rudolph’s books in general, and this one in particular, enough to overlook it.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review, and I recommend it to fans of apocalyptic fiction or spy thrillers, because Rudolph has successfully married the two in this novel.

A Slow Start But a Very Interesting Story

At first I was unsure about whether I'd like this book as it really didn't grab me in the beginning. But the character development and interplay between Quint and Natalia as well as the plot build up were very well done. The characters of Adam and Liz were not as intriguing but I'm hoping that will develop more in the next book which I am really looking forward to reading. I hope the author continues this series as I am eager to see how the story plays out.

Exciting entry to a new series

This book involves a husband and wife team who are contracted to make a hit not knowing that it will also set off a final attack on America. The team involves multiple layers of betrayal and must continue to survive.

The second set of players are a family that have prepared for survival in case of an attack or other emergency.

The interplay is really well done. The story holds great promise for a new series. The narration is excellent and very understandable.

This book was provided free of charge with expectation of an honest review.

Love the merge of apocalyptic and spy novel

The fresh combination of preparedness and (very mild) Jack Ryan type of book. Very nice! Story is captivating and not to much of the “gun blazing have the whole world in my backpack prepper” bs. So all in all I would recommend it and will get the next book
