Publisher's Summary

The Hunger Games meets Cinderella. This fairy tale has no happy endings - only dark beginnings. They call them the Crimson Fold. High up in their castle they look down on my little world and wield a silent control. That is, until the invitations are sent out. I never dreamed I'd be selected. They tell me it's a privilege. I should be honored.

But the fear in their eyes doesn't lie. If I refuse to go, my family will be shunned. If I go, my life and my body will no longer be mine. It'll be theirs. At midnight it will be over. At midnight, I'll be his.

Great narration!

I was quite pleased with this story- It was very low on the heat level but had a great story- It was basically Cinderella in a dystopian world with a little PNR thrown in for good measure. Great YA story! I absolutely love Melissa Moran's narration. She brought Clarabell to life in the best way. It really was Hunger Games meets Cinderella. Would love to read more!

Another wonderfully crafted captivating read

My fourth read/listen from author Erin Bedford. Another wonderfully crafted captivating read purported to be a re-written fairy tale, but I didn’t see it, whose storyline continued to reveal & evolve throughout the length of the book. The voice inflections of the narrator were such that I can’t imagine just reading it.

Another great Bedford Book

I am a big fan of Erin Bedford, and once again I am not disappointed.
Clara and her father live with her new step mother and step sisters. While her father is away Clara is forced to care for her new family as a servant. She is invited to the castle to represent her family. She is pampered and opulently dressed to attend a ball. This ball however is a competition for the position of consort to the leader of the realm. The story end on a cliffhanger, but this book was a great start to the series, and I am looking forward to continuing it.
The narrator did a great job evoking the emotions of the story.

I provided this review in exchange for a complimentary copy of the audiobook from the author, narrator, or publisher

Fantastic and dark dystopian with vampires. I was hooked by the intrigue of The Election and the fascinating characters. I want more!

Excellent dystopian hunger games fairy tale in the style of Cinderella. Clara has been uprooted from her impoverished faction when her father marries an eccentric snobby woman with two daughters. Her father is away for work and she is stuck with her stuck up steps who haven’t had to work or want for anything in their lives. The election comes around and Clara is chosen to go and represent her family, however nobody knows what exactly this party contains because nobody has ever returned with memory. Competition is harsh and those competing for the election will stop at nothing to win the prized position of consort to the leader of the mysterious and powerful crimson fold. The story leaves you hanging for certain and I cannot wait to get the second book in the series! The narrator did a fabulous job! I received a free review copy of this book at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you!

A Dark Beauty Pageant

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

This book is truly an enjoyable dark fairytale with princes and princesses, good and evil, and the right amount of the paranormal. The storyline is easy to follow and entertaining and I truly enjoyed the narrator's rendition. Clara (bella) is a sweet and a little naive girl but with a strong will and character that allows her to overcome a not always pleasant situation. I found that the vampires are also lovable for the most part and the opulence of the "castle" and the gowns it's very girls dream.
I was a little taken aback by the abrupt ending however. I can understand the intention of creating a sequel, but somehow the conclusion to this book seemed a little unpolished and not suspenseful enough. It is definitely a series you will want to read in its entirety to truly enjoy it.

Great Beginning to a great series

I loved Clara and her attitude. She's just the kind of person I'd love to be friends with. I really enjoyed the mystery of the election and how slowly the bigger picture bloomed. Reading this story was great and highly enjoyable. I can't wait to find out what Until Dawn holds in store for me.

I've heard Melissa narrate before and I loved her voice. I really loved her voice for this just as much as I previously did. I love the depth that having it narrated adds to the story.

A knock-out read!

This fairy tale has no happy endings...
Only dark beginnings...

Cinderella meets The Selection meets The Hunger Games with a wicked and twisted read that will leave you dangerously addicted.

What a knock-out and stunning read! This is definitely not your average fairy tale read. This is retelling will hook you and take you out of your comfort zone.

I just can't - I honestly have no words for this book...just read it...now!

Full of mystery, secrets, games, gowns and balls, vampires, fear and a hint of romance.

Perfect for readers of dystopian fairy tale retellings.

The narrator was absolutely amazing and incredible - I felt deeply connected to the heroine. I never have felt this before when I was listening to audiobooks and I absolutely love it!

Until Midnight

“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”

I'm hooked!
Cinderella meets Hunger Games meets Twilight? A little bit of everything! The cliffhanger has left me waiting for more!
My only complaint...I wish it had been a little longer. :)
