Great Novel

Rebecca lost her husband a year ago, her mother just months ago, and her sight is dwindling to nearly gone. Her only high point over the last year is her son being born. Now he is 3 months old, and considered by many to be an amazing baby. Rebecca doesn’t want to admit she may need help, but as she faints during a play date at the park, she isn’t able to refuse it anymore. When she awakens after getting some much needed rest she goes to check on her son. She touches him and immediately something isn’t right. This isn’t her son at all. Now she must try harder than anyone before her to convince the world that although she cannot see, she knows that this baby is not her son. Rebecca is a wonderful character. So strong and charismatic. She loves so deeply and refuses to let any challenges overtake her. Jess is sweet, kind, and a little sassy. All the fun you look for in a good friend. Crystal is kind, nervous, shy. She has a great heart, but it very afraid to show it. Jake is rugged, endearing, trustworthy. As I read this book I found it nearly impossible to put down. The curiosity of what was happening, what secrets took place, it was too juicy to stop reading. I started to fear things I didn’t even think of before. I could never in my life imagine what it is like to be a single mother, blind and alone. The terror and anxiety that came sidesaddle with this book was an impressive show of writing skills.

Another great read by the author

After thoroughly enjoying not her daughter, I had to check out this book. As someone who has been blind since birth I am very impressed by the amount and depth of research the author went to in writing from the first person perspective of someone who is losing their vision. I cannot speak to this aspect, myself, but as someone who uses the type of technology needed to navigate the world as a blind individual, I was very impressed with her knowledge of apps, navigation, techniques, and the wording that was not typical of describing a blind persons life.
As for the story itself, I give it a five all around. I admit there were times when the main character’s stubbornness and inability to ask for help from her friends was a bit frustrating. But at the same time I do understand. This is one story you will not forget. And you definitely won’t regret this read.

Great Story!

The story was great, with a surprise ending! The reader did not create different character’s voices. They were hard to distinguish.

The author and narrator are perfect together. This is their third collaboration. The storylines are creative. The narrator is a natural.

Wonderful Story

It was hard to stop listening to this book. I couldn’t wait to find out what really happened. The ending was shocking. I didn’t have this one figured out. The only downside was the main character being stubborn and not accepting help. It got old and was irritating. Overall though I loved the story.
