A sweet and tender romance, great narrators

Amy Knupp - an author I've had on my radar for so long but have only just begun reading. I have no idea why I waited for so long because she is absolutely incredible! So very talented and her stories are just brilliant!

I started here with the Henry Brothers series, UnTold, UnRavelled and now UnSung. These boys and the town of Dragonfly Lake? Everything is laid out and stories are told in such a way that I completely get immersed and feel like I'm living it, not reading (or in this case, listening to) it. I felt like I was right there with Everly Ash when she ran from her wedding before she made the biggest mistake of her life and married Trey, and stayed the Sweetheart of Country Music and the power couple they were. I was by Seth Henry's side when he was looking at the news and came across an article about the runaway country star bride from Nashville whole looked suspiciously like the new tenant who showed up at his rental property at midnight...

The sweet and tender romance between Everly and Seth as they have a secret relationship - while she hides away from the world in Dragonfly Lake - is just that. Sweet and Tender. Knupp knows how to write a situation exactly right for the plot and use the perfect amount of emotion and steam for the couple she's focused on, bring in the perfect amount of side-characters (from previous books), and all of the banter and wrap it all up in the perfect length of a storyline to give us just exactly what we all need. Just exact perfection! No huge melodrama, no massive cryfest, and no ridiculous fights that are out of place. Pure bliss.

I completely and totally recommend this book and the rest of the series to all, but you're going to want/need to get it on audio! This is narrated by Tim Paige and Stacy Gonzalez. If you haven't listened to them or been fans of them before (which I definitely have been for a while), you will be after this book! They did a brilliant job and they also deserve 5-stars each, like Knupp deserves for the writing!

I now cannot wait to pick up UnDone and UnExpected and find out what happens with the next Henry brothers!

A must-read in a wonderful series

Unsung is the second in author Amy Knupp’s Henry Brothers series. Perfect as a stand-alone but that trio of brothers is pretty darn fascinating and I would recommend you read – or better yet listen – to the entire series. Holden Henry is the youngest brother, the outgoing, chatty, lives-life-to-the-fullest brother. His oh-my-gosh-why-didn’t-I-realize-she-was-the-love-of-my-life story was delightfully told in the first book in the series, Unraveled, and the novella prequel Untold. Cash Henry is the oldest. The executive chef at the family restaurant, the ex-military man, the often rough, tough, gruff guy. Haven’t heard his story yet, but the hints are tantalizing. Seth Henry is the middle brother. The reliable, steady, brainiac overachiever (except for that gigantic secret and lie). Unsung is his story.

Seth has just remodeled the apartment over his garage to be used as a rental. When a mysterious client wants to arrive late at night he says yes. Even though he doesn’t know the reason why, he is just the kind of guy who wants to help. And from that uneventful beginning springs an absolutely captivating story. Serious Seth always has his nose to the grindstone, business comes first, head in the books, mostly the family restaurant books, so he has no idea that the name his new tenant gives him is fake, and that she is actually a famous country singer and the runaway bride the internet is burning up about who just jilted her groom-to-be at the altar. She seems to need help, and even when Seth does find out who she really is he feels compelled to help her keep her secret and hide away. Not because of the electric sparks that are almost visible between them – more, much more on that to come – but because he knows from personal experience how tragic and heartbreaking it can be when your personal life becomes public fodder.

If there were ever two people not looking to start a relationship, it is Everly and Seth. Deciding not to get married is the first time Everly has stood up for herself in, well, probably her entire life. So even though Seth is nice, seems to genuinely want to help her and is easy on the eyes – did I mention all the Henry brothers are smokin’ hot?? – this is not the time for her to jump into anything new. Seth has sworn off relationships because of something that happened years ago. And if he starts up anything with Everly and social media gets wind of it his secrets – and the big lie – will surely come out.

Seth is a good guy, a great guy and so, so appealing to Everly. A feeling which is most definitely reciprocated. They fight it, but you can guess how successful they are. Their time together is like a precious little gift with an expiration date. When Everly leaves the apartment and goes back to her ‘real life’ they’ll have to end it. Too soon, too uncertain, too much risk to continue. But should something that precious really be ended?

The Henry brothers, and sister Hayden and the extended family and friends, are close as can be. No matter how much they disagree on day-to-day events or tease, they have always got each other’s backs. And they are all in when it comes to Seth and Everly. Dragonfly Lake is a beautiful, cozy little community where everybody knows your name but where what happens in Dragonfly Lake stays in Dragonfly Lake. Run, don’t walk, to pop your earbuds in and take a listen to Unsung. Narrator Tim Paige is always a pleasure to listen to and Stacy Gonzalez is right there with him. The pacing, the tone, the anxiety, the desire, the determination, the humor, the heat, all there fully brought to life by these two very talented narrators.

I received a free audio copy of Unsung from the author via Home Cooked Books. I thoroughly enjoyed it and am loving making my way through this satisfying series. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.

Country Music Sweetheart/Runaway Bride

Book 2 of the Henry Family series. You can read it without the previous book, but you get a little more depth if you read in sequence.

Everly is a runaway bride and a famous one! She comes to Dragonfly Lake to lay low and determine how to move forward after not getting married.

Seth is a solitary man with a secret past that affects his every decision. He’s drawn to the woman renting from him and wants to help her stay hidden as long as she chooses to.

The story of these two falling in love is also one of acceptance, self discovery and standing up for what you want (once you’ve figured out what that is).

The audiobook was performed by Stacy Gonzalez and Tim Paige. I loved the lightness to Stacy’s tone in her baseline narration. A lot of Everly’s inner monologue just made me smile with the delivery. She was very sheltered and lacked many of the “normal” parts of life due to her country music sweetheart status. Everly had quite the journey to figure out who she wanted to be and how to stand up for that idea. And I really felt the range of that from joy to intensity in those moments from Stacy as well. Tim was smooth like butter throughout the performance. I really enjoyed the moments with family and friends when this serious man got to be a little goofy.

Such a beautifully Written book. The characters were so great I was cheering for them to fall for each other. I fell in love with these two characters so bad. !! It was a sweet Romance. I highly recommend for a wonderful small town romance and HEA! The narrators did an amazing job bringing the characters to life! I’ve really enjoyed this book!

Great story with amazing narration

This is a great addition to the series. I really enjoyed Seth and Everly - their banter, care and concern for one another and their attraction to one another is sweet and endearing. Everly needs to hideout…she is under a lot stress, needs to make some personal and business decisions and just needs time to think. Seth is a bit of a loner, for his own reasons, and is working on renovating his property. He has a renter request and he just happened to finish a garage apartment…he didn’t expect Everly to be his renter. The interactions between Everly and Seth are very sweet, caring and tender. They have major trust issues but find it easy to share and be vulnerable with one another is fantastic. Can’t wait to read/listen to more from The Henry family! Tim Paige and Stacy Gonzales - deliver an amazing performance. They give each of the characters perfect emotion, personality and voice.

Enjoyed both of these characters!

This is a nice story for the second of the Henry brothers. I was not blown away as I was with the first in the series but it is a good solid story. I did like the runaway bride as she grew into new herself. Seth is the classic nice guy. He had no plans for a romance ever but things changed once he got to know his garage renter.

I listened to this on audio. Tim Paige and Stacey Gonzalez did the narration. mr Paige did a wonderful job. I struggled with Ms. Gonzalez because she used the same tone and voice for all the characters. It made me have to listen closer to see who was talking (male or female) and the high upbeat voice did mot work for more serious situations. I have listened to her before and have not noticed this problem.

Anyway I look forward to Cash’s story! There might be some craziness in his as he is the grump of the family.

Unsung is book #2 in The Henry Brothers series. Everly is a country music star and sweetheart. Now she is a runaway bride, hiding out from the world to figure out her life. Seth has rented his garage apartment for a short term lease, but has no idea it's to her! This book was good, but I didn't feel the same spark as in the first book. I think Everly's character kind of got on my nerves a little bit, but that's just personal opinion. I do love the story that author builds around the small town and Henry brothers.

The narration was 5 stars, all the way. Tim Paige is a favorite narrator for me. I think Stacy Gonzalez is new to me and she did a good job as Everly. Great job by this duo.

Great Story!

I loved Seth and Everly's story. Eve is a runaway bride who is hiding out in Seth's garage apartment. I enjoyed listening to their story. The narrators do a good job telling the story in a lively way that you could just listen to them all day. They also do a great job giving the characters a voice that makes listening enjoyable. Looking forward to reading or listening to the next book in the series.

Heartfelt, steamy and sweet

I’m so excited to go back to the Henry Brothers series and meet the next brother. “Unsung” is a heartfelt, sweet and steamy small town romance that was a delight to listen to.

Everly Ash is country music’s sweetheart and is getting married. But last minute nerves and realizing she’s not in love with her fiance, has her pulling a runaway bride to Dragonfly Lake. Seth Henry owns a restaurant and has just listed his garage apartment as rental property. And Everly is his first tenant.

I loved how these two met and how he didn’t even recognize her at first. That is exactly what she needed when she left her wedding. And these two truly became friends before becoming something more. Seth had a secret that was so hard for him to keep but meeting Everly helped him get past the guilt he had been carrying. Everly is so sweet and genuine and someone that I liked right from the beginning. She truly found herself being at Dragonfly Lake and spending time with Seth. Seth was so protective of Everly once he figured out who she was and I loved how much he cared to keep her safe. And the whole town did for that matter, that makes me want to move to a small town just for that alone.

Tim Paige and Stacy Gonzalez narrate this story and I loved listening to them bring Seth and Everly to life. Both of their performances were perfect for each character and I loved listening to this story.

Another engaging story in this series.

This latest audiobook of the series backs to the town of Dragonfly Lake where the townspeople are known to gossip, but are also very protective of their own.
This time, the story belongs to the middle Henry brother, Seth Henry.
Seth is the great guy everyone loves and admires. He does the administrative work of the brothers’ bar and soon to open beer bar, and though he is liked by all , he has guarded his heart since grad school. The pain was too deep and he’s kept it a secret from everyone.
Everly Ash, the Sweetheart of Country Music and country music royalty, has a moment of doubt and a realization just before her wedding. She becomes a runaway bride and ends up renting Seth’s studio apartment.
It was obvious she was keeping secrets and hiding but all Seth wanted was to her to feel safe.
As a friendship develops a pact of a month long fling is made. But what happens when feelings get in the way? What happens after the month of hiding with these two individuals with a different outlook of their lives? What happens with Everly’s image and her ex?
Once again, the author delivers another touching, heartbreaking as well as heartwarming story about family, new beginnings and a second chance at life and love.
The narrators Tim Page and Stacy Gonzalez did a good job with the various voices
Can’t wait to see what the next story will bring.
