A different book

This book is a little different compared to the first two in that you are pretty sure who the murder is for the entire book but it is just a question of how they did it and if Peter can figure out a way to prove it. I did feel there was more racism and religious prejudice in this book compared to the previous two. I'm not sure if that was the author showing how predetermined biases can slow down an investigation or just a product of the times for when it was written. The method of murder was also a little unsatisfying so that is why it lost a star overall.

Great detective story, but….

I hadn’t read Dorothy Sayers in many years and had forgotten how very impolitic the stories are to both women and POC. Some of the dialog is cringeworthy.

Good fun!

Mark Meadows's narration is excellent, as always! The story does deal with some topics that were taboo at the time the mystery is set, so the characters do dance around them a little, but it's a fun time all in all. Can't wait for book 4!

Not one I remember

When I was first reading Dorothy Sayers 30 or 40 years ago her books were hard to find. Mostly out of print. I read some from the library and picked up a number in second hand book stores. She was a late entry into E and talking books. I must have read this one way back then but dont remember it at all and never owned a hard copy. I am absolutely delighted with the whole experience. As with all prolific writers some efforts are better than others. This rates as one of the best.

Great story; horrible reader

This is one of my favorite Sayers stories; interesting with lots of twists and turns. However the reader does such an awful high camp version of every single character as to render it unlistenable. Look for the story with a different reader if it interests you.
