Story
One of my dad’s favorite jokes about getting older was: “I went out for coffee when I was twenty-one and when I got back I was fifty-eight!” I get what he meant now. Time flies. My first book, If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a "B" Movie Actor, was published back in 2001 and it chronicles the adventures of a “mid-grade, kind of hammy actor" (my words), cutting his teeth on exploitation movies far removed from mainstream Hollywood. This next book, an “Act II” if you will, could be considered my “maturing years” in show business, when I began to say “no” more often and gravitated toward self-generated material. Taking stock in the overall quality of my life, I fled Los Angeles and moved to a remote part of Oregon to renew, regroup and reload. If that sounds tame, the journey from Evil Dead to Spider-Man to Burn Notice was long, with plenty of adventures/mishaps along the way. I never pictured myself hovering above Baghdad in a Blackhawk helicopter, facing a pack of wild dogs in Bulgaria, or playing an aging Elvis Presley with cancer on his penis - how can you predict this stuff? The sheer lunacy of show business is part of the fun for me and I hope you'll come along for the ride.

Bryan Cranston landed his first role at seven, when his father, a struggling actor and director, cast him in a United Way commercial. Soon Bryan was haunting the local movie theater, memorizing and reenacting favorite scenes with his older brother. Acting was clearly the boy's destiny - until one day his father disappeared. Suddenly destiny took a backseat to survival. Seeking something more stable, perhaps subconsciously trying to distance himself from his absent father, Cranston decided on a career in law enforcement.

Nineteen-year-old Greg Sestero met Tommy Wiseau at an acting school in San Francisco. Wiseau's scenes were rivetingly wrong, yet Sestero, hypnotized by such uninhibited acting, thought, "I have to do a scene with this guy." That impulse changed both of their lives. The Disaster Artist is Greg Sestero's laugh-out-loud funny account of how Tommy Wiseau defied every law of artistry, business, and friendship to make "the Citizen Kane of bad movies" ( Entertainment Weekly), which is now an international phenomenon.

Publisher's Summary
Unmasked documents the unlikely true story of a boy who was taunted and beaten relentlessly by bullies throughout his childhood. Kane only escaped his tormentors when he moved to a tiny island in the South Pacific where he lived for all of his teen years. After living shirtless in a jungle for a while, he headed back to America where he fell in love with doing stunts - only to have his love burn him, literally. For the first time ever, Kane tells the true story of the horrific burn injury that nearly killed him at the start of his career. The entire heart-wrenching, inspirational story of his recovery, the emotional and physical damage it caused, his fight to break back into the industry that almost killed him, and his triumphant rise to become a film legend are told in Kane's own powerful voice. Take a peek inside the head of the man behind the mask. Be inspired by his triumphant comeback, and laugh at his on-set hijinks as you unmask the world's most prolific cinematic killer.

Unexpected, Honest, and Great
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I know many horror movie fans and I believe they will like or love this book.
What other book might you compare Unmasked: The True Life Story of the World's Most Prolific Cinematic Killer to and why?
None. I cannot think of many actors or people associated to Hollywood who would be as open and honest as Kane Hodder.
Have you listened to any of Kane Hodder’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, he has no other audio performances.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No extreme reaction, but there were many headshaking moments as well as head shakers and chucklers.
Any additional comments?
I had no idea Kane was from the same area I am and I did not know about his horrific burn accident and subsequent medical torture.

this was, by far, one of the best books to cross my path in a very long time. I don't mean that in any other way but with the upmost respect. his story and journey are such an inspiration. outside of my own father and husband, i cant think of a better example of a real and true man!!! kudos to you Kane! keep kicking ass and taking names later!

This book was absolutely phenomenal. If you like horror movies and subject matter there in you will find this book definitely hard to put down. I truly enjoyed the narration by the actual author. I think personally it gives more credibility to the story. More importantly the thing I enjoyed the most about this book was the message if you have a dream go for it! An unexpected inspiration
I got this audiobook expecting to hear behind the scenes stories about Friday the 13th. what I got instead was a surprisingly deep and inspiring book about a man who overcame tremendous obstacles in his life while he pursued his passion. And Kanes narration just makes the experience hit that much harder. It inspired me to start following my own dreams again. I hope I can one day meet Kane Hodder and thank him for this uplifting and inspiring experience.

Oh, and Kane, can’t WAIT for you and Steve to choke me at the same time again like you did when I spent the afternoon with you at your table in Worcester MA’s Rock & Shock 11 years ago! Thank you for that day. It’s amazing when you can meet a teenage crush in your 30’s and find that he’s just as badass, dead sexy, and 100% gentleman, as you always hoped. Thanks for being awesome and not some conceited ass or lecherous douche. You and Steve were just funny, kind, and cool to hang out with. ❤️❤️❤️

Fascinating look at the life (so far!) of Kane
What made the experience of listening to Unmasked: The True Life Story of the World's Most Prolific Cinematic Killer the most enjoyable?
It was a nice balance of family history, stories, details and anecdotes that never dragged.
What did you like best about this story?
The horrific yet fascinating detail of Kane's accident was grueling to listen to, I can't even imagine what it was like to go through for real! Yet it never felt as if it were shocking for shock's sake. It was very well put across.
What does Kane Hodder bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
It's always great to hear an author read his own story, and despite some fleeting moments where it felt like he was reading (which of course, he was), most of the time it felt like Kane was just talking to you. I like that.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Jason's back!
Any additional comments?
Having Adam Green read his own introduction was a nice touch. All in all it was a great look at Kane's life and profession, I'd listen to him again for sure.
