Publisher's Summary

They heard the earth-shaking wail come out of the trees announcing to everyone that he was there and coming for them. The forest dropped to a heart pounding silence leaving them suffocating for the familiar sounds of the forest.

The wilderness around Redwood, Washington, is vast but it is not empty. It holds a terrible secret, buried under layers of myth and legend. A broken down fence stands alone in the forest to mark the border of the unknown - a line no man will cross for decades.

Hank Tomkins knows the truth but swore never to reveal it. The secret must stay hidden to protect his town, his reputation, and his sanity. Now, 35 years later, a group of young outdoorsmen have vanished and now have threatened to expose the secret. Hank will have to sacrifice friendships, respect, and even his life if he wants to keep his vow of secrecy.

Frustratingly incompetent "outdoor expert"

I tried really hard to enjoy this premise and there seemed to be a decent storyline initially, however, all obvious historical and official warnings and even directly from a friend resulted in zero preparation for anything other than getting lost was taken by a self professed expert. Even if he was prepared for the agressive bear believed to be responsible that would have been something, but nope. Just beyond belief that even a complete neophyte to the wilderness would make the mistakes made by this buffoon. Sorry, Ive never left a negative review but this just is so rife with idiocy that I had to.

Bah

This whole story must have been written on the principle of being paid by the word. There can be no other reason for how long and drawn out this story is. There were so many side trips on character development that was an absolute waste of time. It had no bearing on the plot. Never mind that the whole concept of the Big Foot was left lacking. It was portrayed more of a mythical monster than anything else. This is one of the few books I have listened to that I could not wait for it to end.

Hank is Best

Beginning dragged pretty hard, and the only likeable character was Hank who the story and characters tried pretty hard to make out to be the bad guy which was pretty frustrating. The book itself was ok, would have liked to have more spooky in the woods with Bigfoot time.

Gonna let it sit, maybe try again someday

I hate to bash on someone's work. But I found this really long and drawn out. Lost interest mid way through... gonna switch to something else and maybe I'll finish someday....

Unlikable Characters, Uninteresting Story

The author's PoV tarnishes this overly long, incredibly boring, and horribly written monster tale. Lett that sink in. A story about monsters was boring. It was more a soap opera populated by right-wing idiots.

WHERE'S THE BIGFEETS???

Is there a Bigfoot in this Bigfoot story? hello?...Hello?...
This book drones on and on about everyone and everything else but Bigfoot. I just gave up figuring Bigfeets will show up with only two hours left of story.. It started off okay but after bigfeets kills the Dear Hunter? that's it folks! Now we get to sit through the life stories of everything else that I could care less about. This book is a good argument for a Somniack!
This author? Never again...
