Publisher's summary

The universe is darker than we thought....

Lucien Ortane is a Paragon in the Etherian Empire. His job is to explore the universe and spread Etherian doctrines of peace, justice, and immortality to sentient beings everywhere. Like all Paragons and most citizens, Lucien believes that Etherus, the benevolent ruler of the empire, is exactly who he claims to be: the one true God and creator of the universe.

But not everyone is a believer. The Academy of Science circulates a petition to send a mission to the cosmic horizon and learn the true nature of the universe. Over a billion people sign it, and Etherus grants their request, but with a dire warning: Evil is lurking in the dark.

Undaunted by this warning, 300 million scientists from the academy prepare to leave the empire on what will be the longest and most incredible journey in history.

A small group of Paragons also join the mission, each of them for their own reasons. Lucien Ortane tells himself that he's going in order to settle other people's doubts and to keep a bunch of hapless scientists safe. After all, he's a Paragon, one of Etherus' most faithful servants.

Yet even the faithful have doubts. Is the universe infinite? Does it have an edge? Is it shaped like a sphere or connected like a torus? Did it need a creator, or does it cycle endlessly, god unto itself? These are the questions that the academy is trying to answer, but the answers they get could be their undoing. God or not, Etherus was telling the truth about one thing: Evil is lurking in the dark....

Dark Space is being lit up. Simply brilliant!

Jasper never fails to deliver. This book took us right in the middle of space battles. The narrator did a fantastic job and created a whole new dimension to the book. I love the fact that Jasper backs up his plot with scientificly accurate information. Cannot wait for the next one!

Another engrossing tale by Jasper Scott

Here’s another truly excellent piece of work by Jasper Scott in the Dark Space universe.

I have been reading Scifi for over 60 years Jasper Scott is among the best authors I have ever read. The amount of research he puts into his work is staggering it shows.

As with all his work the characters are multi dimensional and described to the point that you might recognize them walking down the street.
The locals are vivid and easy to emerge yourself into.

The science is plausible extrapolation of current technologies; he has avoided tripping into errors in physics and physiology that is so common even among other excellent writers.

The plot is riveting causing me to loose a lot of sleep!
I can’t wait to read the next installment but this story has a satisfying ending, making me want more but not feeling deprived or left hanging on the proverbial cliff.

William Duff’s performance breaths life into the characters and situations. His females sound feminine and every voice is clearly different and consistent throughout his narrative.

5 Thumbs up

I can hardly wait for book number 8. This series of books has been so fantastic that I breezed through all 7. In less than a week I can hardly wait to see what happens next. To sum this series of books up into the simplest terms it covers the escapades of man throughout the ages as they get into trouble one right after another and have to fight their way out of it. It pushes man’s believe and origin and the vastness of space to it’s limits and beyond if you have read these books you know what I mean and if you have not prepare to be amazed but be sure to read all of them otherwise you will not know what’s going on even with the narrators explanations.

Awesome continuation and a new series!

I thoroughly enjoyed the first series and this one in my humble opinion is even grander and with more possibilities!

You will find some of the old characters mentioned with plenty of potential for them to return. Gods and devils, universe and galaxies! It's got it all.

I eagerly await the next one.
