A race against the clock with little to no police presence is a serious problem in a large city that has deadly ties to more than just one town.

After the Night Stalker has been killed at the hands of law enforcement, Jennifer Cleary and Matt Hesmsworth find themselves in an even worse situation. Evidence surfaces of more problems within the Midfield PD that has the potential to get Hemsworth and Cleary killed either by the hands of the murderer or by the DA that has approved the death penalty for heinous crimes.

Who in the department has been recruited by the murderer(s)? Is there something bigger at play than a serial killer with family ties in the precinct? Is the Night Stalker really just a title for one individual killer, or is it much deeper than some sadistic family tradition?
