To make things even worse, her captain also orders her to protect the man she dated as a teen: Isaac Troyer, who was attacked on the night of the murder but cannot remember the incident.

The handsome and quirky cabinet maker begins to fall for Olivia once again, unaware that she carries a 9mm under her skirt as she must fake her way into rejoining the Amish community to gain the people's trust.

After another murder, some deadly pranks, and a kidnapping, Olivia realizes she needs Isaac's help most of all because of his personal ties to the suspect.

Will Isaac be willing to break Amish rules to help her arrest the killer? Or will he be unable to forgive her for lying to the community about wanting to be Amish again... and for lying to him?

I hope the author keep’s trying

Narrator was fine.

Author had a good narrative style. However, her obvious lack of knowledge about the Amish, about undercover work, and police procedure were really the downfall of this book.

If the author would read two or three books by undercover cops/agents as well as some serious research beyond Amish romance novels her book would be strengthened by the more believable story.

Great suspense and mystery! I love Amish stories, and this one was one of my favorites!

Loved it

I loved this book, can't wait to read the second one. I read alot of Amish based books, and though this wasn't a favorite, I'd read it again.

Thrilling story

Mixing my love of mystery and Amish romance, author Ashley Emma did a fantastic job of weaving this story together. The twists and turns were amazing and kept me on my toes the entire time. It’s the first mystery book I’ve ever read where I did not guess correctly (and this includes Agatha Christie books). Narrator, Callie Beaulieu, did a great job of keeping this story an enchanting listen with voices for characters all through out. I’d highly recommend this book.

okay story

author should learn more about the amish community and their beliefs. it detracts from the flow of the story that she gets it so wrong. she also does not know much about police procedurals. perhaps some study and research and establishing relationships with both groups would help make her books more interesting.

Just ok

This book was perfectly ok. Not horrible, not great. I was not a fan of the narrator...I will probably try to avoid books that she has narrated. Since this book was about an Amish girl a hint of a pa Dutch accent would have been interesting. As it was I detected a hint of an accent, not sure where (Boston??) and it bothered me a bit. I would not recommend this book even though it wasn’t too bad. The main character is supposed to be a police detective but she came off as unsure of herself and a bit “bumbling” (tripping, falling, making noise when trying to be quiet) and it was a bit unbelievable. Every time she tripped into a shelf (or similar) and knocked noisy things to the ground as she was trying to be quiet I did an eye roll.....here we go again....

The insight on the Amish community was very interesting. If you’re looking for a good book about love and suspense this is your book! Enjoy! I sure did.

Secrets, Pain, Forgiveness, Redemption

First, I simply love Narrator Callie Beaulieu. I can't explain it, I just do. Next, phenomenal storyline. Can't wait to listen to a book about Ava. The cycle of domestic violence and how to break it, the importance of a life lived with YHWH, and the effects terrible secrets can have, especially in an isolated community are fully explored. I don't want to give away more than that. There is pain, forgiveness and redemption. Excellent!! It's worth the listen🥰
