Publisher's Summary

Veteran White House reporter April Ryan thought she had seen everything in her two decades as a White House correspondent. And then came the Trump administration. In Under Fire, Ryan takes us inside the confusion and chaos of the Trump White House to understand how she and other reporters adjusted to the new normal. She takes us inside the policy debates, the revolving door of personnel appointments, and what it is like when she, as a reporter asking difficult questions, finds herself in the spotlight, becoming part of the story. With the world on edge and a country grappling with a new controversy almost daily, Ryan gives listeners a glimpse into current events from her perspective, not only from inside the briefing room but also as a target of those who want to avoid answering probing questions. After listening to her new audiobook, listeners will have an unprecedented inside view of the Trump White House and what it is like to be a reporter Under Fire.

New Fan of April Ryan

I really enjoyed this book! April Ryan did a great job capturing her experiences dealing with this current administration. She was able to connect what she was going through with what we were seeing in the media.

Can’t get past the narrator.

April Ryan’s book is interesting and informative so far, but I can’t take the narrator any more. Her repetitive cadence is monotonous and distracts from the content.
I listened to the sample before buying and thought then that the Foreward was limiting her performance. Not so. I’ve sped up to two higher levels, and although the content is still quite clear it didn’t help.
After more than an hour in, I’m throwing in the towel and am gonna buy it in print.

I figured as much

This book is well written. I believe the book is the truth. I trust April Ryan, she is a veteran in journalism, and at the White House. In my opinion she is one of the best who takes her job seriously and does it well. What's happening at the White House is an unfortunate situation, actually, unfortunate is an understatement. We have never been here in my lifetime, and I hope America make it out on top, but I must say it's looking pretty dark. How did we get here? Well, if we're honest, I think we all know the answer to that question, and that's sad.

Confirmation

I gained a more respect for April Ryan! She confirmed my feelings about Omorosa Manigault. I feel good that she asked the questions that need to be asked.

True and Empowering

I hate to say until the Trump White House I had never heard of April Ryan. I am so pleased that we have had a woman of color and still have this strong educated thoughtful women there. Asking the hard news. I have watched her on CNN when she first started she appeared to be a little awkward . Now she is on full command and is very imperative Keep Going Girlfriend we got your back.
