Publisher's summary

Four years have passed since I left home, my parents, and my brother Asher behind - since I shut out my past.

And Erin. Four years since I last saw her, since I heard her voice and held her in my arms. I've spent my time forging a path from woman to woman, from bed to bed, trying to find an answer. But I think I've lost my way. There's no light at the end of the dark.

No big surprise. I carry the dark inside me. I'm a bastard - branded as such from the start. I never give my phone number and address. I take my pleasure, and don't come back for seconds. No commitments, no promises, and no happy endings. Yeah, I'm a bastard down to the bone and I don't give a damn.

But now I'm back in my birth town, the town I fled at 18 - back to make amends to the brother I abandoned and watch from afar the only girl I've ever wanted. Hope isn't a currency I can afford. I learned that lesson long ago.

Yet when she looks at me and says my name, I can't help but hope.

Stand-alone novel. No cliff-hanger. Warning: this book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Mature listeners only. Not intended for young listeners.

Okay series...but...

I didn't dislike the series, but I did not exactly love it either. The thing that annoyed me mostly is the age of all these characters.
Every single one is under age for what is IMO logical in the storylines.
Storylines that began '4 or 5 years ago' when characters were 14 or 15 and then to 'now' when they are barely 20.
I am in no way saying that it isn't possible for some things to have happened as written - but to me it would be much easier to swallow if this group of friends were all 25 or so in the 'now'.
Also, no tattoo artist is going to be 18 or 19 and running his own shop. This is something that takes years of apprenticeship to learn and become licences for. (Fully tatted here...so trust me)

Narration was decent, but again these voices are NOT 19 or 20.

Overall if you can suspend your disbelief over parts it isn't a waste of time or credits.

Better than expected

I didn’t think I like this story but it was better than I expected. I cried and even laughed. There were dark parts but nothing ruined it. This author was new to me but won’t be my last. The narrators, Wow! They were fantastic! They made the story even better! I highly recommend!

Angsty as expected, but problematic

I knew this would be a heartbreaking story after reading Ash’s story, but jeez. I definitely didn’t see some of it coming.
Overall I liked it, but I have a MAJOR bone to pick about how his mental health issues were handled & I can’t help but feel that it was irresponsible & potentially dangerous to present things in this way. (SPOILERS AHEAD)

Tyler is clearly struggling with OCD & PTSD at minimum. Yes, the way his uncle “medicated” him was irresponsible & highly dangerous, as was Tyler’s decision to self-wean, but I’m really annoyed about how they only talk about him “detoxing” from his meds. Sure, that possibly explains the symptoms he was struggling with, but it seems like he would legitimately benefit from not only therapy (stat, please!) but also from being under the care of a psychiatrist. If his brain isn’t capable of creating the levels of neurochemicals it needs to thrive, there is NOTHING WRONG with taking medication to supplement them chemically. I really feel like this perpetuated stereotypes & misinformation and that disappoints me.
I also vehemently disliked the way that Erin decided to introduce Jackson to everyone, especially Tyler. (Not a fan of Tyler drinking & driving that evening either. Seriously irresponsible.)

First love... awwwww

Loved Tyler... what a great character... endured a very rough past ... for years... so be ready. A little difficult love story but it's all worth it. The story comes together quite nicely.

Ava and Teddy bring the characters to life in such a great way. They are simply awesome.

It's definitely worth the listen! Enjoy.

great character development

love all the characters .... the flashbacks and the strong story development in this band of misfits. Tyler is a very likable character and though you know the HEA is going to come, it's not sappy.

Could have been better

The storyline would have been fine, but there were way too many GD and JC words that I cringed every couple of minutes I listened to it.

Interestingly Poignant

I don’t know exactly what to say about this story. It was interesting. I enjoy the narrators so I continued to listen to it. It was such a broken story line literally and figuratively. There were some similarities to it and there were some that made me question it. With Hamilton’s and Erickson’s narration, it pretty much brought me into the picture itself. We’ll see how the next one goes.

Older brother Tyler returns & heals

Tyler’s story held very few surprises as he was the 1st victim of his father’s abuse, but the one big surprise that was hinted at in book one and then easily guessed at is a major explanation for Erin’s behavior in this 2nd book of the series. It indicates also how much these books are about the girls or young women in the case of Erin. Also she & Tyler are at more comfortable ages for this series and the voices fit the characters. This is not appropriate for younger teen reading but fine for college age on up and not quite as dark as Zane’s story but as graphically violent and steamy as Asher’s.

Intense!

Tyler and Erin's story is so intense, fraught with horrors of the past and the huge effort it can take to move forward. It is both a love story and one of survival. Ava Erikson and Teddy Hamilton are both excellent narrators and their skills bring the story to listening life. Fantastic! 💖💖💖💖💖

Great story

Really enjoyed Tyler’s story, This book does have very serious moments in it which makes it that more gripping but thankfully Tyler is able to overcome the difficulties in his life and re build it with the love of his life.

Great addition to the series

contains some spoilers but nothing that effects the enjoyment of the book.
how one father can be so brutally cruel is heartbreaking. this book features Tyler who is Ashers brother from the previous book. if you think Asher got the full force of his father's cruelty in the first book, then be prepared as thats nothing compared to what Tyler suffered at the hands of the sadistic piece of work.
this book, like the first covers difficult topics such as physical, psychological and emotional child abuse, addiction and also the effects of it all on the mind and body, and how Tyler copes with what he's gone through. as well as good story line and romance intertwined within, the book is well written and the subject matter handled with care.
the narration was spot on, as expected from these two amazing narrator's.
definitely worth listening to, I'm off to download the next book.

Another FANTASTIC read

Absolutely Brilliant writing. What I love about the Inked Brotherhood Series so far, is the relatable topics the book broaches and you can just feel the bond that the guys created. Tyler and Erin’s story was just as profound as Asher’s. Ava Erickson with her beautiful- animated voice and Teddy Hamilton with his smooth and hypnotic voice, did an amazing job (as alway 🥰) on narration.

Great story but...

I enjoyed this story. However, there was one factor that had me dropping the rating, and it's my personal preference. But, the story itself was great.

SPOILER!!!

Erin was 15 and Tyler was 17, almost 18 (as described in the book) and they were s3ggsually active. Tyler talks about how they were 'together' and how she felt, moaned, etc. The girl was 15! He was practically 18! That's serious ick for me. Being together is one thing, but to have underage sex described is a no-no for me; I don't care if they're only a few years apart. She was still underage. My rating would've been higher if Erin hadn't have been so young.

A really good story well narrated

This is one of a series, but also a standalone.

Focusing on a group of friends, all with a damaged history, each book is of a particular member of the group and their love interest.
Good depth to the characters and an interesting storyline. Super 🔥 chemistry and well written, graphic sex scenes. Slightly surprised at that, as the characters are late teens/young adults, but I guess it’s actually pretty true to life these days. Well written nonetheless.
These two narrators do an excellent job with theses books and really bring them to life.

Definitely recommend 👍

Great story

I loved book 2, I’m really enjoying the inked brothers collection. I’m moving onto book 3 Zane. The boys need some happiness in their lives. The stories are relatable and will touch on some sensitive issues.

Prepare to loose yourself in many emotions

OMG! This story is so heartbreaking, I cannot imagine a child having to go through the unspeakable things Tyler experienced by hands of his Dad. I couldn't put the book down, it pulled at all my emotions. A brilliantly written story.

great story

this series is definitely a better write than the series I began to read starting with Micah.
it has some pretty intense situations and themes and the heroes suffer more so than the girls. It seems it's Ms Ravens theme, which I enjoy as there are a lot of books I've listened to where the heroine is in crisis.
it's pretty raw but doesn't get so deep as to wrench my guts out but I held my breath here and there. Asher had some bad times. but Ms Raven manages to go one more with Tyler. I'm really wondering how Zane goes?
Asher was a long slow burn whereas Tyler moved at a quicker pace...I really Enjoyed listening to this.
loved the narrator's and I'm more excited to see one of my favourite male narrators is Zane.
