Good...but not up to my normal expectations

I bought this on the day it came out and finished it in two days. Obviously I'm a big fan of Michael Connelly and both his Bosch character and Mickey Haller. Actually I love all of the characters Connelly creates, but Bosch will always be number 1 for me.

But he tried something a bit different this time in combining a couple of different story lines into one book. I understand the purpose of it in that the book is almost half Bosch and half Haller, and it's not a bad combination. The story flows along well as is evidence by my finishing it in two days. The problems I have with it is that the culmination of both stories ends up being somewhat rushed and less believable than most of his stories. All of the good stuff is still there in terms of evidence and procedure, but the climax in both cases is not up to his normal standards on either of the plot lines.

Other than that, the book was entertaining and Titus Wlliver does an EXCELLENT job on both Bosch and Haller. In fact, in some cases you can hear a little bit of Matthew McConaughy seeping through which was quite entertaining.

One other small problem I have with this book. I've recently seen a trend among some of my favorite writers throwing in a bit of national political narrative or barbs at one side of the aisle or the other. It's getting very tiresome. First, I see this author is a very fine fiction author, but there's nothing in his background that would suggest to me he has any great insight into politics other than to follow along with the talking points and rhetoric of one side or the other. No original thoughts or insights. So why subject me as a reader to it? Especially when I came to read a crime mystery novel and it has nothing to do with the story. You accomplish nothing by it other than to alienate readers..so what's the point?

I came here for a good mystery story and I couldn't care less about your (or any other author, actor, or generally famous person's) political orientation.

Great Read

Never gets old. Never gets boring. Worst part was that it ends and I need to wait for the next installment.

One of Connelly's Best!

Where does Two Kinds of Truth rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As far as thriller's go, near the top. I have listened to all of the Harry Bosch books, and this one is one of my favorites.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I love the way the author wove two separate crimes into the story and kept Bosch moving between the two crimes, one past and one present.

What does Titus Welliver bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I really like Welliver as well. He does the different character voices well and his inflection is spot on.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nothing extreme, but it did make me hungry for the next Bosch book.

Unnecessary language

Another great Bosch/Haller book, with some of the better insight into the Bosch character. A little lighter on the language would make this a better read/listen.

Best Bosch Ever !

This is an absolutely terrific listening experience. Michael Connelly is at the top of his game with a multi-pronged story that is riveting across the board, and Titus Welliver (who plays Bosch in the TV series) continues to be the quintessential narrator of the Connelly/Bosch work. I hope Connelly is young and healthy because I want him to continue to deliver these great stories for years to come. I can't recommend it enough!

I love Harry. Wish I really knew someone like him.

The only sad part is the book was over before I wanted it to. Felt story line was excellent. If you love Harry like I love Harry, this is meant for you.

Best in the series!

Riveting from start to finish!!! Beautiful job of narration by Welliver. A great and well thought out plot with a wonderful appearance by Mickey Haller at his best!

Loved it

Loved every page of this book. Connelly has been knocking them out of the park. Also, love the fact that they have Titus reading the audio version... Great stuff and definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good mystery.

MAGNIFICENT ENTERTAINMENT!!! LOVE THAT BOSCH!!

I've listened to and enjoyed every book in this series! This one is even better in some ways than those that precede it if that's possible. In previous books, I found some of the stories too involved and hard to follow some of the characters. This one is truly exceptional. I definitely recommend listening to the books in order of release. Each book refers back to other characters and if listened to in order, it's easier to follow who's who.

Titus Welliver is a very talented narrator. I never grow tired of listening to his voice and he's great at differentiating the voices of each character.

Harry Bosch is one of my all time favorite characters...reminds me somewhat of Jack Reacher. This book is very much worth the credit.
