Publisher's summary

This isn't just another case. This is family.

How far will Stephanie Plum go to protect the one person who means the most to her? The stakes have never been higher in this number one New York Times best seller from Janet Evanovich.

Grandma Mazur has decided to get married again - this time to a local gangster named Jimmy Rosolli. If Stephanie has her doubts about this marriage, she doesn't have to worry for long, because the groom drops dead of a heart attack 45 minutes after saying, "I do."

A sad day for Grandma Mazur turns into something far more dangerous when Jimmy's former "business partners" are convinced that his new widow is keeping the keys to a financial windfall all to herself. But the one thing these wise guys didn't count on was the widow's bounty-hunter granddaughter, who'll do anything to save her.

COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER

The previous book was the worst of the series. I am happy to say that this book was one of the best.
The amount of humor was a huge improvement. The narration was great as usual in this series.
My main message is to long time fans. This book is worth the credit. I strongly considered not getting this book I AM GLAD I DID!

Worth the Wait

I'm a huge fan of the Stephanie Plumb series and preordered this one. I couldn't decide whether to rate it 4 or 5 stars. It's one of Janet Evanovich's best thought out stories with a very interesting plot... Lorelei King does a masterful job in bringing the characters to life.

In this one, Stephanie remains eternally 30 years old, but has a sense of aging and time passing her by. She's quite burned out, and starts asking some serious questions about her life. We see Ranger in a charming, little more human light. Morelli remains the quintessential cop.

Everything we love about Stephanie's ability to muddle through and solve very difficult crimes is here. Grandma remains a hoot, although in serious trouble in this episode.

In the end, as usual Stephanie saves the day, and she ends up no closer to making a decision between Ranger and Morelli, After 25 years, I'd like some resolution to that dilemma. which is why I chose 4 instead of 5 stars.

All in all, I highly recommend "Twisted Twenty-Six. You won't be disappointed.

Glad I didn’t give up on these books

For those who have been following Stephanie Plum through the series. This book is much more character driven. I really enjoyed this chance to get back down to earth with a plausible situation, away from the zombie/magical stuff that has entered the storyline in some recent books. There was enough plot and action to keep things moving but real character development here to remind us why we liked these books in the first place.
Now I can say I am really looking forward to what comes next for Stephanie and the rest of these Burg/Trenton folks. Hoping for more of the old, sometimes zany, Stephanie antics. Let’s let the magic stuff vanish ... or fly off to the other series.

Very enjoyable

This latest episode was very entertaining and funny. Lula is a hoot. The story was pretty good. I do have to say that the love triangle thing is getting a bit old, particularly since Ranger is getting short changed. He is clearly Stephanie’s passion and he seems to really care about what would make her happy and fulfilled. Morelli is her comfortable, place because he represents her burg life and its expectations - which don’t expect much of her. Oh well.

Very Entertaining

I loved this story with its focus on Stephanie and grandma who is always a hoot and a half. All of the major characters were there. It took me back to many of the other books, particularly the early ones, where I laughed out loud through the whole book.
Enjoyed the book.

Best one in a long time

I love Stephanie and her family but in recent books they had become very dull, nothing new happening until wonderful TWENTY-SIX! Loved that this wasn’t a predictable story line. The plot was multi-layered and emotional depths between the characters, specifically Stephanie and Ranger, have stepped up a notch.
I hope we get to see more of the maturing of Stephanie in the future.

Amusing and entertaining

There is nothing unusual about this book, it is standard Evanovich fare. However, it is amusing and entertaining and fans of Stephanie Plum will not be disappointed. The usual cast of quirky characters return in this novel, and for readers it is like visiting old friends. Lorelei King’s narration is wonderful. She does different voices so well. She is one of my favorite narrators. I recommend this book to everyone, but especially to Stephanie Plum fans.

Not the fun, funny romp I love

I enjoy the Stephanie Plum books for the humor, wacky characters and just plain joyfulness. Sadly, this one didn’t have that. Stephanie is sick of her job. There is real domestic violence. Not a fun way to spend hours of my time. I miss the lighthearted exuberance I’ve come to expect from this otherwise terrific series.
