You’d think having power, having people treat you with respect, an insanely awesome inheritance waiting for me, and knowing you could do really awesome (awful) things would be cool. It isn’t. I’ve got strings you wouldn’t believe attached to the inheritance. It turns out other people want it, so instead of suing me, I mean that would be logical, right? No, they are trying to kill me. But when Jo gets hurt and my familiar decides to start calling in favors, then things get even more twisted. We might all end up insane, or dead before this is over. Maybe I’ll survive.

Awesome series, not so great narration

maybe I've been spoiled by Stephen Fry or other actor narrators, but the narrator (so far, first book) is... not the best I've ever heard. She speaks clearly, but it feels like I'm listening to a middle school kid reading a book out loud in class.

Cori had me so frustrated — in the best way.

The title ‘Twisted Luck’ is perfect because it makes you want to find out why she keeps ending up in these situations.

First, I need to stand and applaud the author. The struggles Cori goes through, and the growth she shows, are relatable in a powerful way. The worldbuilding and pacing pulled me in deeper with every chapter, and the production quality made it even easier to stay immersed.

There were moments where I literally shouted in exasperation to the void — not because the story was flawed, but because Cori is young, stubborn, and learning. I’ve been that age, and honestly, someone could’ve shouted at the story of my life too.

Cori questions things that don’t make sense, challenges what feels wrong, and pushes back even when she’s scared. Watching her figure herself out while navigating a world stacked against her is what makes this series so compelling.

Books 1–3 deliver grit, heart, and a heroine who refuses to quit. I’m excited to continue the series.
