The psychologist with a troubled past...

Dr. Christopher Kellan spends his days at Loveland Psychiatric Hospital, overseeing a unit known as Alpha Twelve, home to the most deranged and psychotic killers imaginable. His newest patient, Donny Ray Smith, is accused of murdering ten young girls and making their bodies disappear. But during his first encounter with Donny, Christopher finds something else unsettling: the man looks familiar.

The killer with a secret...

Donny Ray knows things about Christopher - things he couldn't have possibly learned at Loveland. As the psychologist delves deeper into the mysterious patient's case, Christopher's life whirls out of control. The contours of his mind are rapidly losing shape, and his grasp on reality is slipping even faster. Is he going mad, or is that what Donny Ray wants him to think?

The terror that binds them...

In this taut psychological thriller from Andrew E. Kaufman, best-selling author of The Lion, the Lamb, the Hunted, a tormented man must face his fear and enter the mind of a killer to find the truth...even if it costs him his sanity.

you must ride this rollercoaster

Any additional comments?

I love novels that take me on a mind-bending ride. Saying that, it is easy for me to notice the clues left by the author in books like this determine the “reality” the character has fallen into. Sometimes, they become so mundanely predictable, that by reading the last few pages, I know the story.

Twisted is so not one of those.

I wanted to know every single detail of the mind-trip on which Dr. Kellan finds himself. I mean, there’s recognition of a murderer transferred to his psych ward, for crying out loud. What is up with that?

The characters of Chris, his wife and son are so developed as to transport me into the mind of Chris and welcome the wildness. Especially when people start disappearing.

Excellent narration kept me listening all through a day of work and made the drudgery of everyday life simply fall by the wayside as I mulled over where the end would take me.

Twisted is definitely a recommended listen.

What did you love best about Twisted?

There was nothing to not love. The entire book was a mind blowing roller coaster ride that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Tedious

This is the most tedious book I have ever read and listened to. I’m flabbergasted by the positive reviews, and find this is only more proof that kindle unlimited reviews are bogus. For hours of reading this, I’m thinking that a plot line will HAVE to be introduced at some point. There has to be more than incoherent ramblings from a man having a psychotic break. But there is nothing more. this isn’t even a story ABOUT a man having a psychotic break. It’s the actual psychotic break. It’s only ramblings, no story. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Stupid

This is the worst book I have listened to in a very long time. I hung in there thinking a corner would turn and it would make sense. Never happened. The story was flawed. It was like a drama queen....drama, drama, drama...with no substance whatsoever. The narrator was wonderful and probably the reason I was able to persevere.

Weird

This book was just weird and really hard to follow. Lots of twists and turns that lead no where.

Just awful in my opinion

It started out good, within four or six chapters it turned into story telling. Do you realize the difference of being told a story and listening to a story? If you do you’ll realize you are being told, he went here, I went there, I felt scared, I am confused etc.
A good book uses active adverbs and adjectives so you can live the story. This turned into, what felt to me, “ see spot run, see Jane, run spot run”.
The last 2/3 of the book were hardly any dialogue. I got disinterested. It just kept repeating phrases of confusion, fear, etc.
I think: if I can say this without sounding condescending, I felt like I was reading a 7th grade book.
I like some B movies because they deliberately don’t take themselves seriously. I don’t like B books because I just don’t feel involved. I didn’t care what happened to the main character and I should have. Books rated below B, which I feel this one is, feel like someone is telling you about a story THEY read.
I hope my review helps.
I try to review constructively and not just say a book sucks. Someone might find this enjoyable. I found it sophomoric.

Disturbing yet engaging

This was one of the more disturbing books I've read or listened to in a long time. It took me for a ride that I wanted to get off but couldn't stand the thought of not knowing what happened. I would recommend this as a great "listen on the way to/from work" book though be prepared to be late for a meeting because you just have to finish that chapter as you sit in the parking lot.

Psychological thriller not that entertaining

Is there anything you would change about this book?

No. I just don't think the book was for me.

Would you be willing to try another book from Andrew E. Kaufman? Why or why not?

probably not.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The narration was fine.

Do you think Twisted needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No. All the answers were there.

Any additional comments?

I really thought that this book was going to be a rollercoaster ride. But, after a 1/4 of the way through I became bored and not entertained at all. It did have an emotional ending and it was a bit like sixth sense (another reviewers remark). Still this book left me thinking I really should have stopped listening ages ago instead of sticking it out.

Good narration

The narrator was good. It was a
A good "story" but not as suspenseful and exciting as I anticipated. Not bad

Gosh!

What disappointed you about Twisted?

Well, I think to be a labeled a "Thriller" one should not be able to finish sentences and plot lines. This story was horrendous to finish, just circular and zero plot.

What was most disappointing about Andrew E. Kaufman’s story?

Dull

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

not really
