A Texas Ranger reflects on his years of service, a career in which he was said to have run down more criminals than any other Ranger. Sullivan tells of numerous scouts and expeditions, of hunting buffalo, of encounters with Native Americans, and of important captures of train robbers and outlaws. Originally published by Von Boeckmann-Jones Co. in Austin in 1909.

I love books where people tell the accounts of their lives in separate stories like that. It reminds me of listening to my granddad telling me stories when I was a kid

This first-hand account of life in the wild days of settling Texas kept us hooked. As native Texans who recognized almost all the places JL Sullivan referenced, it was fun to hear of their early days, to imagine his life and put our modern one in perspective. Jack Checkijian nailed the gritty drawl and completely drew us in.

Compelling. Humorous. Enriching.
