Publisher's summary

Jane Yellowrock goes back to the city where it all began in the newest installment of this thrilling New York Times best-selling series.

Jane used to hunt vampires, but now she’s their queen. She’s holed up in the mountains with the Yellowrock Clan, enjoying a little peace, when a surprise attack on her people proves that trouble is brewing. Someone is using very old magic to launch a bid for power, and it’s all tied to the place where Jane was first drawn into the world of Leo Pellissier - the city of New Orleans.

Jane is compelled to return to NOLA because someone is trying to destabilize the paranormal world order. And because she now sits near the top of the vampire world, the assault is her problem. She will do what she must to protect what’s hers. Her city. Her people. Her power. Her crown.

It's over already??

I got to the end and couldn't believe it had already been 15 hours! I can't wait for the next book. I love the plot twists and how things that happened in the first books were woven into what's happening now. I can't say much more without spoilers, but it's so good!

A roller coaster ride as usual

As Jane tries her new found powers she makes some unsettling connections about her enemies and her own importance as the Dark Queen.

As always for me the story held my interest and the narration was exquisite. Accents and voices all sounded just right for my imagination.

My own little quibble is little in the grand scheme of things. But I liked certain people just being damn good at what they do even if only mere humans.

The dark queen rules!

Jane still has issues, but she vrows into the responsibility of her dark queen role. This book was so very satisfying. Amazing work for a long series. And once again the narration really made it real for me. Hanging out for the next one now!

Well Done

Best Jane Yellowrock book in a while. I’ve read them all and I’ve liked them all but the last couple left me feeling a little tired, but this one brought the series back to life for me. Can’t wait for the next one

How do they keep getting better?

For a lot of series I tend to lose interest by the 8th book because they feel like a retelling of the same story but Faith Hunter never disappoints, there are enough twists and call backs that each book though a continuation still feels fresh. She is a master at pacing and not adding a lot of fluff. I can’t wait to start the next book!

A Continuation of Great Listening

Once again Faith Hunter has delivered a great listening experience. Though I have been trying to make this series last just a bit longer, I cannot slow down any more So I am taking time to do a short review before I leap into the next title in the series.

The Best One Yet!!!

Faith Hunter has done it again! Jane is adapting to her new roll, while keeping her snark, we experience a roller coaster of emotions, and something interesting at the end. I can’t wait for the next book!
