After a grueling workout, she squeezes into one of the narrow shower stalls, happy to have the place to herself. Just after she shuts the water off, the gym door clatters open - and while she cringes inside the stall, trying not to make a sound, Peabody overhears two fellow officers, Garnet and Oberman, arguing. References are made to delivering product, and a house in the islands, and someone named Keener who’s supposed to look like an OD. It doesn’t take long for a naked and vulnerable Peabody to realize that both officers are crooked - guilty not just of corruption but of murder as well. Fortunately, the two clear out of the locker room without realizing there was a witness.

Eve Dallas may have trained Peabody well - but this is too dangerous for one person to take on alone. Now Peabody, Eve, and her husband, Roarke, must try to get the hard evidence they need to bring the dirty cops down - knowing all the while that the two have already killed to keep their secret, and are no doubt willing to do it again.

One of the best for this super long run series

I have listened to all of the series, love them all, but I just like this storyline the best I think. Just loved it. Worth the money or the credit, but recommend the series so you will know everyone. The series is super you will not be disappointed to spend money or credits on ALL of them. I own them on disk and slowly buying them on audible now. Worth owning twice LOL. I have started listening to this series again too.

I Love this Series

I don't really write a lot of reviews but I totally love this series. I have listened to every one and I am never disappointed. Both the author and narrator are fabulous and they release the books at a frequency that has you missing the characters just a bit but listening to the next book is like seeing a good friend after having a busy quarter at work.

And the squad came tumbling down--

Lots of characters in this one, lots of bad cops, lots of good cops, good vs. evil, stomping all over the Blue Line, or holding it strong and proud. Loved this In Death story. Peabody overhears something that sets it all in motion. Things pile up and start falling. OK, so Robb's characters are a little over the top--her villains in particular, but they are such good (i.e. bad) villains. One scene had me laughing out loud, and a short time later, another scene had me in tears--good tears. Treachery in Death kept me listening.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The plot was intriguing. You know Dallas and her team were going to prevail but you still wanted to find out how.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

I had to listen all the way through because waiting to find out the ending was too suspenseful.

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to all of the In-Death audiobooks before this one. I love Susan Ericksen. I keep asking myself how she makes it sound like a full conversation and it's just her voicing all of the characters. I love the fact that you don't need the preface of "Dallas said" or "Roarke said". I've heard that in other books and that's annoying and a sign of a lesser producer and narrator.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the squad saluted Dallas.

Any additional comments?

The only thing I'm finding that I don't like about Dallas is the arrogant attitude she seems to take when speaking to assistants, or doormen or anyone she finds lesser than her. She goes for intimidation right off the bat when simply asking a question nicely would get her what she wants. She wants to intimidate people with her badge and position. That's a sign of a bully and beneath her. Cops shouldn't act like that, not in 2016 and definitely not in 2060. She grew-up being intimidated and abused you'd think she'd see that as something she'd want to avoid not show glee in doing to others. People take you seriously when you're a cop you don't have to beat them over the head with the fact that you're a Lt. of the NYSPD. Just my opinion, it's something she should grow out of fast.

Book that got me into the In Death Series

Would you consider the audio edition of Treachery In Death to be better than the print version?

I only listened to the audio book and did not read the print version. I enjoy listening on the way to work each day.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like Peabody. She is normal and Susan's voice for her is comical.

What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is very good at making clear voices for each character and consistently using them. I know I would never have imagined Peabody's voice in the way she performs it, but I love it!
