Publisher's Summary

Charlie is the quintessential bear. Big, muscular and hairy. But that isn't the type of men he's attracted to. He is drawn to men like Taylor - short, smooth, and sexy. Taylor is Charlie's idea of the perfect twink. But there's something about Taylor Charlie doesn't know.

Taylor is unsure about a lot of things, but when he sees Charlie, he instantly knows he wants him. The only issue standing in his way is how Taylor views his own masculinity. He's afraid that Charlie will leave once he knows the secret Taylor wants to keep hidden. Can he be transparent with Charlie and allow him to look behind the image he's so carefully constructed?

Well... that was different...

Would you try another book from Ethan Stone and Sara York and/or John Solo?

I have Sara York's Southern Thing series which is worth listening to because it's narrated by Jason Frazier who does an amazing job and I have one of her short stories from the Campus Cravings anthology, but would I seek out other books intentionally? Probably not, because I have way too many things in my TBR pile and I haven't been completely wowed so far. However, I'll make an exception for any audiobooks she releases if they're done by any one of my favorite narrators (Tristan James, Jason Frazier, Finn Sterling).

This was my first experience with John Solo and he does an okay job narrating, but he pronounces some words in a weird way. He wasn't terrible, but there wasn't much differentiation between character voices.

If you’ve listened to books by Ethan Stone and Sara York before, how does this one compare?

First experience with Ethan Stone so I can't compare it with anything else.
I've listened to Sara York's A Southern Thing series and that was way better because the narrator for that series was excellent.

Would you listen to another book narrated by John Solo?

Maybe. Depends on the story, really.

Any additional comments?

I found Taylor and Charlie likeable. I kind of wish this was longer because it's hard to find stories with female-to-male trans characters falling in love with homosexual men and it's something that I find genuinely interesting. It was surprising that the smaller MC ended up being the top (or dominant) in this story, but I would have preferred more of a build up for their relationship. The only other stories I've read with this theme were by J.K. Pendragon (and again those were short).

A sweet opposites attract!

This is an adorable opposites attract romance between a bear and a cute twink. John Solo's narration was apt for this story. I liked this as it deals with self acceptance, insecurities and was so real and relatable!

Really Interesting Premise, Not Great Story

Taylor meets Charlie at a glory hole and is afraid to make further contact because he’s been burned in the past by guys who can’t see past his past. Charlie is Taylor’s dream guy, big, hairy, tough… and unlikely to want someone like Taylor. Transgender.

But… Taylor doesn’t know Charlie and when Charlie convinces him to give their relationship a chance, Charlie surprises Taylor with the depth of his heart and his willingness to see past the body to the person underneath.

**
This is a short story and it maybe would have been better had it been longer. Since it moved so quickly from meet to love to forever it was a bit hard to swallow. I just didn’t fully appreciate that Charlie’s friends would vilify Charlie’s taste in men and Taylor so violently and I would think the whole transgender thing would need more discussion and would have really made for a lovely educational story about the challenges faced by such a romance.

The narrator, John Solo, did a great job and I enjoyed listening to this more than I would have reading it, I am sure.

A New Cup of Tea

I enjoyed this book and the performance of the narrator. I wasn't really expecting what I got but the author dropped enough clues in the beginning that it wasn't a surprise. I am glad Taylor got his happy beginning and I wish it was a bit longer but I would re-listen to this story.

Good book to get your feet wet in the Trans world

What made the experience of listening to Transparency the most enjoyable?

The story was well written. Taylor brings you into his world, and sets you at ease.
You learn a little of what the struggles may be for a transMan in the world without being too
much.

Have you listened to any of John Solo’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to this narrator before. He tried to give voices to the character and keep you interested. He has a decently soothing voice and was nice to listen too

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I liked that Charlie just accepted the situation at face value and felt as long as they both got what they needed, he didn't see a problem.

Any additional comments?

Wish the story had been longer. I felt these two had a lot more story to tell.

Don't waste your money

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

this story was extremely predictable. It is very short, only an hour and a half but their was nothing note worthy. The situations were not believable, the characters were not interesting, just overall not a good story.

What could Ethan Stone and Sara York have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

they could have made the characters more interesting and the situations more believable.

Never be afraid of who you are!

Charlie is a big loveable guy. Taylor is a bit of a loner and kinda shy. He's had some bad experiences and is tired of the drama and hurt. When they meet, Taylor is afraid Charlie will be like the others and he will be hurt again. Charlie is a tell-it-like-it-is kinda guy and promises Taylor total transparency. I just loved Charlie. Big teddy bear who knows what he likes and goes for it. This was such a sweet and steamy story I really felt good after reading it. If only more people were like Charlie.

Everyone needs a Charlie in their life!

Taylor is very self conscious of who he is - something that anyone regardless of their gender or sexuality can relate to. he finds in Charlie what we can all use in our lives, acceptance and affection. a short erotic story that gives you a bit of hope that not everyone is closed minded and judgemental, there is someone out there that can accept you for who you are.

as good as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Loved this

Loved this book. The audio narration was faultless. The characters are fabulous and the story is sexy and emotional. This is a short book but so worth the listen. I loved it so much I listened to it a second time straight afterwards.
