Fascinating group of stories and poetry
I received this book in exchange for a review.
I'm glad that I discovered this collection of stories it's an interesting mix of fantasy and the supernatural with hints of horror. The brief pieces of poetry offering a quick change of pace. The narrator chosen for the piece is easy to listen to with a pleasant voice and a good ability to convey emotions. I recommend this.

If you like porn
I can't tell you if the story was actually any good. When I heard porn in the first paragraph, I stopped listening.

Some very dark themes
A wide collection of SciFi, macabre, paranormal short stories from author Danielle Ackley-McPhail. Most are dark to gritty including one taking place in a women's prison and another which might very well have been a continuation of that story. Others lighter but haunting still. A 'fateful' visit to the home of three sisters. A final gift from a dying grandmother. Some uplifting, such as Beloved, a very comforting bit of verse, perfect for reading at a funeral or memorial service. The title piece 'Transcendence' was also very good. Other brief poems are included here and there.
Jennifer Fournier narrates in a very accessible tone overall, no pretense, comfortable. But also adaptive, knowing when to kick in the elements as needed to raise intensity or squeeze an entire image from a single word. Very well done!

Collection of short stories
I enjoyed some of the stories more than others. All were good but the two I loved most were the story about the gates, and the story of the emberlings. The stories are a collection of supernatural, fantasy, and a bit of mythology. I enjoyed the narration by Jennifer Fournier.

An anthology of short stories and poems.
I have mixed feelings about this anthology. A few of the short stories were a little to dark for my liking, but others I truly liked. My favorites being The Misses Moirai and Emberling. That being said, they were all well written and were thought provoking.
I thought Jennifer Fournier did a fantastic job wth the narration. I would not hesitate to listen to any other books that she is narrating.
