This is a great series that has amazing characters and the continuity of the series from book to book is fantastic and you will love the action and the storyline

Werewolves Attend College in California

Jade Stone is moving to California with her closest best friends to attend college and start their own wolf pack.

Bevin and José decide to start their own pack in California near the college that Jade attends. Jade is excited to be starting a new pack with her best friends, even if it means moving away from her family. When dead bodies start appearing around campus, they fear that they have another rogue wolf on their hands. Unfortunately, they have to take care of this one on their own. When the attacks keep coming, Jade starts to realize just how much work managing a pack truly is.

I'm glad to say that halfway through this series I am still very much intrigued to see what Jade and the gang will get up to. Thank you so much to Huckleberry Rahr for the gifted audiobooks of this series!

There is a bit of a massive timejump at the start of this book, which I wasn't exactly expecting. When this book starts, Jade has already reached her junior year of college, her and Piper broke up a while ago, and the group is working on setting up their newly formed pack in California.

It is nice seeing Jade and her friends mature a bit. They are far away from their parents and they are forced to deal with their day to day problems on their own. Seeing Jade, Bevin, José, and the rest of the pack learn to trust one another even more is really sweet.

I must say, I was surprised to learn that Jade and Piper broke up. I can't say I was heartbroken by it, but I definitely am not a fan of Jade’s new girlfriend. She is definitely mighty suspicious and I couldn't help but feel that their relationship wasn't going to last that long.

I did really like another one of the new characters that was introcduced in this book. Alex, Jade's dormmate, seems pretty chill. They are definitely going through some stuff and going on a journey of self-discovery, but it was nice to see them and Jade finally get along and support one another.

The rogue alpha plot is starting to get a tad old. The gang did have to deal with the wolf without their parents' guidance, but I don't think that was a unique enough premise for this book. The points of high conflict read very similiarily to previous books in this series too. Hopefully, the next installments will explore completely new plot lines that have nothing to do with rogue wolves (or at least adds a few more layers of depth).

Overall, "Traitor" definitely surprised me on several accounts, which is a good thing. It was nice to see the gang start their own pack and learn to rely on each other even more. The rogue wolf plot is a tad repetitive, and the romance completely tanked in this one. Werewolves at college is such a fun premise and I had a great time reading this one. I am really looking forward to seeing what Jade and her friends get up to in the next installment!

Audiobook Note: Andrea Kummer does such a fantistic job at narrating these books. They bring Jade to life so magnificently and their voice has really grown on me. They do speak a tad slow sometimes, but nothing that two times speed can’t remedy.
