After the Lensman series became popular, Smith took his Triplanetary story and turned it into the first of the Lensman series, using it as a prequel to give the back story for the protaganists in the Lensmen series. He added six new chapters, doubling it in size and it's really a different book from the serialized novel, being published 14 years after the first. It was put into Gutenberg just last year.

Science fiction writer H. Beam Piper published this short story, "Time and Time Again", in 1947. A self-educated man, Piper was a prolific writer until his suicide in 1964. In this 46-minute story, a wounded World War III soldier is miraculously transported back to his childhood. Fortunately or unfortunately, he still remembers everything from his adulthood. But, as many writers throughout the centuries have wondered, can the future be altered? Jim Roberts gives an enjoyable performance. His formal tone fits the work while his easy pacing makes the science jargon simple to follow. This audiobook's surprise conclusion will surely satisfy listeners.

X Minus One Far Superior
I purchased this short story because I heard the radio version on the radio program X minus One. The radio adaptation was far better. The story is empty of any wonder, or even interesting plot. There is a lot of philosophizing and even for a short story, it drags. The radio program managed to grab the main ideas and scenes and bring them to life.

Good story
I don't know if I would call this story "awe-inspiring" as another listener did but it was certainly a very good story. I thought the reader was quite good as well. Five stars, overall.

Would you listen to Time and Time Again again? Why?
No. I don't like re-runs.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Time and Time Again?
Waking up as yourself but at a different time in your life.
What about Jim Roberts’s performance did you like?

Differences in the Available Versions
This story is an old favorite of mine; there are three versions of this story available on Audible.
This version, narrated by Jim Roberts is the audio book of the actual story.
The other two versions, Dimension X and X Minus One are radio dramatizations of an adaptation by Ernest Kinoy and depart significantly from the original.
Dimension X, broadcast in 1951 is okay, but I found the voice acting in X Minus One slightly better.

Great story hurt by poor narration.
This is one of my favorite sci-fi stories and was the basis for noted episodes of "Dimension X" and "X Minus One." Unfortunately, the narrator did not prepare adequately or was not sufficiently skilled to do justice to Piper's awe-inspiring narrative. At some points, it sounds like the narrator had never previously read the piece prior to recording the narration.
