Publisher's Summary

Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair....

Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn't believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell.

Peter is unlike anyone she's ever known. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland's inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything - her family, her future - to be with him. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she's always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter.

With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it's the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who's everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.

From the New York Times best-selling author of Peaches comes a magical and bewitching story of the romance between a fearless heroine and the boy who wouldn't grow up.

Delightful New Angle on Peter Pan

What did you love best about Tiger Lily?

I loved her spirit and strength, struggle with conscience

What does Cassandra Morris bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

For me a narrator gets 4 stars if they have a good range and ability to change their voice differentiating characters, and is actually performing, not simply reading. 5 Stars means the narrator is an integral part of the story and I would never want them separated from the book. A 3 means I got through the book but struggled in hearing character changes.

But this book kind of falls out of the above criteria because its read in the voice of Tinkerbell, and I'm not clear as to how much differentiation the author desired. As Tinkerbell the voice is definitely girly and squeaky at times, she does a very good job at portraying the emotion of each scene (which helps the listener stay engaged), and I think for the target audience it would be a solid 5.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

SPOILERS
There are 2: when her father is defrocked the devastating consequences, and when Tiger Lily changes her mind about killing Wendy and Peter..and the fall out with the mermaids as a result

Any additional comments?

This is such a great read and original take on a timeless book. It made me appreciate the original story of Peter Pan; and concepts such as non-aging, the psychopathic pirate tendency, communication with fairies is all explored in a way that enriches the tale. Defiantly worth a credit and my time..no fast forwarding or skipping scenes.

Love all of it!

I loved every piece of this story. Beginning to end. Despite everything I truly truly love how things worked out but there was a lot of pain.
Oddly enough some part of me resonated strongly with the boy who all but worshipped the ground she walked on.
The love story was very romantic and in a lot of the best ways it was subtle.
I think Tink was a great POV to hear the story from. Especially since I never heard the not disney version of Peter Pan. I found this version to be a lot more enjoyable! I will definitely be putting forth an effort to learn/ find out more of this store. I am so thrilled that Wendy was not a big part of the store and to hear how strong Tiger Lily is. Only thing that still kinda hurts my heart is that Tiger Lily's relationship with moon eyes could have been a lot better I feel.
Anyway, all in all a credit here is worth it.

Different… I like it!

Not what I expected! I expected a retelling of Peter Pan from Tiger Lilly’s POV. That is not what this book is. I loved seeing her culture, her heroism, and her love for others. This world building is wonderful. Neverland is so much more than Peter Pan, and so much bigger. I really enjoyed this read.

Meh...

Overall, it was a somwhat interesting read. I was mostly engaged and interested in how it was going to end. That said, once I got to the end, I was kind of like, :hmmm". I don't think that it wasn't a good book, just not really my cup of tea.

I did, to a point, like both Peter and Tiger Lily. I think they were both interesting characters.

my heart is broken and I will never be the same

Wow I am freaking heartbroken.
I finished this book before starting a 10 hour shift and 10 hours later I'm so so so so freaking sad. This book was so beautiful and heartbreaking and touching and unique and magical. I loved the narrator as well she fit so well for the role of Tink.

Being the biggest Peter Pan on the planet this book hit me like a brick.

I never was much fond of Tiger Lily. This book made her my second favourite character (after my precious Peter of course). And I always hated Tink because I thought she was a jealous little thing but this book gave her so much depth and now I love her.

This book broke my heart, truly. I identified so much with Tiger Lily, and SPOILERS AHEAD, I truly felt it to my core when she wasnt enough for Peter. As I was growing up I believed in Peter the way I believed in God. And for him to choose Wendy over her made me feel like he didnt choose me either. I would wait him to appear in my window until I turned 14. I know it's so silly. But I truly needed him to be true. This book made me cry like I did when I was 12 and Peter did not come to take me.

I understand why the plot had to be the way that it was, the only thing that dissapointed me was on why Peter couldn't ever fly. If he did not age he might as well fly. I hoped Tink would transfer her powers to him in Hopes of saving him when he and wendy were about to die.

I know I've said this like a million times but this book truly broke my heart. Peter always broke my heart as a child and he continues to break it as an adult.

I love you Peter. Forever.

update:
Everytime I think of this book I get sick to my stomach out of sadness. I feel like I will throw up. I've never felt like this about anything in my life. my heart is so deeply broken. I wish it ended differently. I'm so sad I avoid thinking about it at all cost.
