Publisher's summary

Chris-Tia Donaldson knows what it means to beat the odds. Going from the inner city of Detroit to the Ivy League to founding a successful hair care company and facing brutal trials like breast cancer along the way, she embodies the strength so many women in America aspire to have - and knows how the challenges women face can create remarkable perspective, calm, and understanding.

In This is Only a Test, Chris-Tia reflects on her journey as a black woman in corporate America and shares the lessons that life has taught her. From faith, family, and relationships to the importance of embracing gifts and defining success on one’s own terms, she shows how all women can follow their dreams while still staying true to their own needs, physically and emotionally. Letting the world go and finding their own pace. Every woman’s path is different. But the way to get there is the same: Keep your head up, rely on your true self, and ultimately, pursue your dreams - no matter what stands before you.

Just What I Needed!

Chris-Tia gives it to you straight no chaser and I love her for it! She touches on her beginnings and how she felt attending a majority white school. I can relate. She touches on finding herself in a PWI. I can relate. She touches on the unfairness that black women face in Corporate America that NO ONE touches on. I can relate. She touches on entrepreneurship, the highs and lows, and the struggle with balance. I can relate and I knew I needed to do better and work on balance but now I am making that a PRIORITY! Thank You for being open and honest about dating. I know I am not alone but am making the changes I want to see. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You Chris-Tia. I feel equipped with the tools to live my best life!

Extremely Inspirational and Relatable

Chris-Tia’s ability to leverage her personal story and journey with cancer as a lawyer turned entrepreneur is truly amazing. Each chapter ends leaving the reader uplifted and encouraged. It is witty and brilliantly written. This makes a wonderful gift and perfect for a book club. I was personally blessed with her perspective on spirituality and humanity.
