Publisher's summary

Have you ever thought that maybe you didn’t belong? Have you ever looked around at your family members and thought, there is no way I am related to these people?

Both Peter Frazier and Trent Lockley thought this about the families they were born into. Two boys, the same age, miles apart. They are both from small Texas towns, born in the same hospital, on the same day. However, their lives turned out to be nothing alike. The Frazier family is a large, lively bunch. The fact that they are close-knit and share every detail of their lives with each other always seemed a little strange to Peter. Although he loves every one of his six siblings and his overly affectionate parents, he couldn’t help but feel out of place around them.

Trent Lockley is an only child born to abusive parents who spent most of his life posing as a punching bag for the town drunks. As he grew into a young man, his anger grew with him. Trent got in a lot of trouble as an adolescent. He would start fights at school frequently, and once he grew up and got even bigger than his drug-addict father, he started fights at home.

It is the summer of 1996; the Frazier family is preparing for Peter’s High School graduation, and Peter is a little nervous, because he has yet to make any plans for his future. He always figured that once he turned 18, he would hit the road and never look back, but now that the day is here, he isn’t so sure. The idea of leaving his family, mainly his baby sister, Tallulah, behind now scares him.

Right before the two strangers turn 18, they cross paths. Trent has somehow managed to wiggle his way into the Frazier’s life, and Peter becomes suspicious of this newcomer and starts to question everything about him. The rest of the Frazier family seem to be blinded by Trent’s charm and simply adore him.

Great Premise

I wasn't sure I would like this, but the writing and characters won me over. Awesome read and I really enjoyed the performance. I received this for free from the author's FB promotion and this is my voluntary review.

Very Exciting read

What an amazing book! I loved the family and the unique details about each of the characters. The author did an awesome job of giving each character their own personality and really building them through the book. The suspense was fantastic and I was truly appalled but enthralled at the same time. I enjoyed the narrator and think he did a wonderful job, especially with so many characters to work with. I hope there will be more stories about the family!

Kept me VERY Intrigued!

Great read! I knew Trent was a Frazier from the get-go, BUT kept guessing how it would play out. Some people did not like the ending… I thought it was apropos. Great job and read (listen)😜! What’s next? BTW the narrator did a fabulous job!!

dark and disturbing...

This book was dark and disturbing, fiendish and fascinating, intense and ingenious... The blurb does not even begin to do justice to the book... and hearing it as an audiobook made it even more disconcerting and difficult to deal with... I could predict some of the things that happened in the book, and it still twisted my gut when it happened...

I liked the lively and lovable Frazier family... especially Marybeth...

Trent made me feel uncomfortable, he was so unpredictable and unpleasant...

Read. This. Book... I mean listen to it...

Twisted and Delusional

This Family Sucks is a well written dark and twisted book. I was on the edge of my seat because this book was and intriguing web of lies and murder. The descriptive writing will leave nothing to the readers/listeners imagination because it it truly believable. If you love books that will keep you in suspense while dragging you through the hell along with the characters I highly recommend this book to you. Christopher Rourke did an amazing job narrating this story.
