Introducing the Bow Street Bachelors - men who work undercover for London’s first official police force - and the women they serve to protect...and wed?

Will a false marriage...

Shipping heiress Georgiana Caversteed is done with men who covet her purse more than her person. Even worse than the ton’s lecherous fortune hunters, however, is the cruel cousin determined to force Georgie into marriage. If only she could find a way to be...widowed? Georgie hatches a madcap scheme to wed a condemned criminal before he’s set to be executed. All she has to do is find an eligible bachelor in prison to marry her, and she’ll be free. What could possibly go wrong?

...Lead to true and lasting love?

Benedict William Henry Wylde, scapegrace second son of the late Earl of Morcott and well-known rake, is in Newgate prison undercover, working for Bow Street. Georgie doesn’t realize who he is when she marries him - and she most certainly never expects to bump into her very-much-alive, and very handsome, husband of convenience at a society gathering weeks later. Soon Wylde finds himself courting his own wife, hoping to win her heart since he already has her hand. But how can this seductive rogue convince brazen, beautiful Georgie that he wants to be together...until actual death do they part?

Enjoyed the overall storyline of this book. Refreshing to have the male leading character being a real down to earth aristocrat. Even though he was from the ton, a war hero, rake & scoundrel he was likable. Female leading character was also likable. The intimate encounters I fast forwarded, most all these books sound the same & I feel they don’t add anything to the story. Narration is good , except not fond particularly of the male voice but it’s not terrible. 👍

I loved this story. IMHO great characters and witty dialogue makes a book. The narrator can negate all those good characteristics, but Beverly A Crick did this book justice. She interpreted the story and characters and presented them in her own special way. Well-done ladies.....thank you.

Great story with strong, likeable characters

Very good, love that they lead female is intelligent and brave all steaming from a man she married because she wants a husband that will be executed the next day. Yup it starts that good. Very good and exciting all at the same time. Definitely a good read/story.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this novel. The heroine was clever and adventurous and there was very little of that typical overbearing maleness that she "falls in love with anyway" as seen in an endless supply of other novels. Grateful for the lack of it! Their chemistry is great and so steamy. Without giving anything away, I wish it hadn't ended so abruptly and the title felt... off?? There were numerous occasions where I laughed out loud. Definitely worth the credit and would absolutely listen to more from this author.
