And she documents the inspiring movements that have already begun this process: communities that are not just refusing to be sites of further fossil fuel extraction but are building the next, regeneration-based economies right now.

Can we pull off these changes in time? Nothing is certain. Nothing except that climate change changes everything. And for a very brief time, the nature of that change is still up to us.

One of the most important books of our time

Well written and meticulously researched, Naomi Klein has done it again making the unshakeable argument about the state of our planet and the need for grass roots organizing to counter the destructive forces of capitalism that puts profits over people and the natural environment. A must read for every single human. The evidence is undeniable and we need to act quickly if we are too survive. Naomi lays this out in an accessible manner while ensuring to go about it a responsible and intersectional manner. Easily entered my top 10 favourite books. Highly recommend!

True to it's title, true to it's purpose.

The subject matter is heavy, but necessarily. It helped to awaken me more and find purpose in how to help. A path has been set.

Good for info you might not have known

I was hoping to find a book that offered case studies, policy suggestions, and the like. While overall I think this was a good book, I do wish I'd been given more tools. For me, the most useful take away from Klein's writing is to use that biological response of fear, and face these issues head on, coupled with the examples of successful blockadia she did cite.

Be brave, read it!

A book that changes everything you have thought about climate. It is so clear and so moving! Be brave! Read it!

provocative story, but smacked of fear mongering

story was interesting and motivating at times. at times it felt more like an opinion piece than of unbiased journalism. that's not necessarily a bad thing, given the gravity of climate change, but it is something to be aware of before picking up the book. book was also a little longer than necessary.

it's long, but worth it! depressing at times, but truth. motivates to action. highly recommend.

Critical issues even if you don't agree at times

Even if you don't agree with all the points discussed in the book, the core issues of pollution, destruction of habitat, breakdown of communities, etc, cannot be disputed. The book puts forth a very powerful argument for collective action to address the multitude of ailments brought upon our habitat and society by the dominant global ideology.
