Resumen del Editor

A road map to resistance in the Trump era from internationally acclaimed journalist, activist, and best-selling author Naomi Klein.

"This book is a toolkit to help understand how we arrived at this surreal political moment, how to keep it from getting a lot worse, and how, if we keep our heads, we can flip the script and seize the opportunity to make things a whole lot better in a time of urgent need. A toolkit for shock-resistance." (Naomi Klein, from the preface)

The election of Donald Trump is a dangerous escalation in a world of cascading crises. Trump's vision - a radical deregulation of the US economy in the interest of corporations, an all-out war on "radical Islamic terrorism", and sweeping aside climate science to unleash a domestic fossil fuel frenzy - will generate wave after wave of crises and shocks to the economy, to national security, to the environment.

In No Is Not Enough, Naomi Klein explains that Trump, extreme as he is, is not an aberration but a logical extension of the worst and most dangerous trends of the past half century. In exposing the malignant forces behind Trump's rise, she puts forward a bold vision for a mass movement to counter rising militarism, racism, and corporatism in the United States and around the world.

Timely and Insightful

This is a brilliant and Insightful extension of the concepts first presented in Shock Doctrine. It delves deeply into the systemic reality of our present demise. It boldy embraces once again the idea of utopia and clearly presents the path required to get. there. It's beautifully read and profoundly needed today. It should be required reading for anyone who wishes to see and end to rising inequality and exploitation of people and planet, and the beginning of a new reality of shared prosperity and sustainability.

Could not stop listening

What did you love best about No Is Not Enough?

This is a book I would hand to anyone who wants to add depth and breadth to their understanding of the moment. It's concise, but expansive enough to define our context and the various strains in our culture that lead us here.

Any additional comments?

Brit Marling was an inspired choice for the reading. Her voice is clear and calm and fit the tone of the material perfectly.

Tools to plan for a democratic future and save the earth

The Trump saga has woken many of us up to our present selves, the conspiracies, and how much worse things can potentially get. Naomi Klein articulates our concerns, gives them a well-researched backdrop and better eyes to see what is coming. She gives practical examples and suggestions to go beyond protest and plan at least as thoroughly as those who wouldn’t mind leaving democracy behind.

Very Important for Us to Remember

This book served as a perfect cap to the trilogy of Fire and Fury and What Happened. The issues brought up in this book are crucial for us to remember as we navigate our ways through these strange times.

Must Read

At least I feel like I've gotten some small bit of coaching on what is really going on and what to do about the current, disgusting political climate.

Still not falling for shock tactics

Would you listen to No Is Not Enough again? Why?

Sure. There's a lot of information packed into a relatively small space. Understanding it all may require some repetition.

What other book might you compare No Is Not Enough to and why?

This is in many ways a fresh look at some of Ms. Klein's previous books, especially "The Shock Doctrine," "This Changes Everything" and "No Logo." She explains how authoritarian politics and neoliberal capitalism interact and feed off each other.

Which scene was your favorite?

The last section of the book is essentially a pep talk for progressives and moderates horrified by the rise of a quasi-fascist corporate goon. Some people, myself included, may think her idealism is a bit unrealistic. It's still great to hear it expressed in such a clear and calm fashion.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Her description of the community that developed around the Standing Rock protests.

Any additional comments?

No matter where on the political spectrum you fall, it's best to put your preconceptions aside and give it a fair listen. Speaking for myself, I didn't agree with everything Ms. Klein has to say, but I was still able to find plenty of common ground. Also, I thought Brit Marling's reading was both soothing and direct. I still can't figure out what was going on in "The OA," but that's another story.

Excellent Strategies for Making America Humane

Would you listen to No Is Not Enough again? Why?

Yes - very important concepts in book.

What was one of the most memorable moments of No Is Not Enough?

The fact that just defeating trump isn't enough - because then we'll be back where we were before he got elected. We need a vision of how things should be and promote that - and then defeat trump.

This is the book we should all get together behind

This book goes further than anything I have read recently towards 1.)explaining what is going on with the world, and 2.) laying out a tenable, sensible, and positive plan for plotting a path forward, and 3.) showing us what to watch for. (I have read quite a few books in this genre.)
Naomi Klein is an amazing and Insightful luminary who should be held up alongside other great contemporaries like Chomsky, or Coates, Michelle Alexander, or Wendell Potter.
We live in a world that isn't working for the majority of its people, where greed has become something almost like policy, and there seems no way back from the brink of climate, economic, social and political disaster.
Read this book.
Politicians seem ready to completely lie and trick people at the drop of a hat, if it means serving their shadowy corporate overlords. No one knows what to do. Read this book.

Love Naomi’s Approach

I’ve been following here for years and love how conversational and thoroughly she covers her topics. I really hope she does a second edition of this book post-Trump.
