Amazing story

I was unfamiliar with the Yoruba People and this audiobook gave a really thorough and enjoyable introduction to their history and culture.

Colin Fluxman’s narration/performance was engaging and fit well with the subject matter.

Entertaining

Very entertaining but should have been read by a native Yoruba speaker for maximum effect

Beautiful

The narrator did this book justice. The pacing was well done throughout and they pronounced the language fairly well. This is a great introductory book for the Yoruba people and should be in your library to be reviewed with and against other books with similar content.

What I did not know limits me

How much do you do not know about African history is what shapes your opinions of Africa and Africans. The good we fail to see in the Africa of today, causes us only think in myths. Most of the wealth of the earth can be found in Africa. As a human, this is your history …

Very informative.

Very informative and short history of the Yoruba people. Captivating History always dies a great job.

good introduction

This is a good short introduction into the history of the Yoruba oriole in Africa. From the title, I expected more on the mythology but instead it was a brief history of the culture, which served as a nice start for someone like me looking to learn more.

Too little context or explanation for a beginner

The stories are told without time or historical context or reasons given for its importance or meaning to the people. For someone trying to learn more, but not familiar with this culture, it can be hard to understand

an interesting group of peoples

only part(s) that I didn't care for were the battle/war stories, otherwise very good. and I love Colin Fluxman as narrator--my only "complaint" is that his voice is so calm and soothing, it makes it quite challenging to listen to at work 😀
