    Welcome to The Your Level Fitness Podcast. I am your host, Daryl Perry, and this podcast is for anyone who has been on and off a weight loss journey for years, maybe even decades. It is also for those who are past the weight loss stage but still struggle with what they see in the mirror.

    Here we take an inside/out approach to fitness and health. Instead of chasing a certain look or thinking that appearance alone will finally make us feel better, we connect with ourselves and untangle the stories we carry about food, exercise, and body image. We build appreciation for who we are at every stage while moving at a calm, deliberate pace.

    Eating, exercising, managing stress, and living day-to-day are things you will be doing for the rest of your life. It is not about finger wagging or being told what you “should” enjoy. It is about looking back at what you already like or at least what you are willing and able to do. That becomes your foundation. When new fitness trends or tools come along, you can decide if they add to your foundation. If they don’t, you return to what works for you.

    Your mindset plays just as big a role as your actions. Seeing victories everywhere is what keeps you moving forward. It does not have to be huge. It could be getting better sleep, waking up earlier, or simply feeling calmer. Wins like these, big or small, matter more than you realize.

    Welcome to The Your Level Fitness Podcast. I am Daryl Perry, and this show is for anyone who has spent years or even decades navigating the ups and downs of a weight loss journey. What we focus on here is building a forever active lifestyle by taking an inside/out approach.

    So much of the fitness industry has marketed against your insecurities, convincing you that once you hit a certain goal you will finally feel better about yourself. Many of us have chased those promises for most of our lives. What I want for you is different. I want you to actually enjoy this process, not just talk yourself into it. Eating well, exercising, and staying active are fundamental to quality of life. They matter, and you deserve to experience them in a way that feels doable and fulfilling.

    If you are listening to this, it is important to remember just how resilient you are. Even when you felt like giving up, you came back. You have continued to show up for yourself despite everything life has thrown at you. That resilience is the foundation for everything moving forward.

    In this episode, I talk about how to quiet the noise around weight loss, fitness trends, and should-do lists by building on your own preferences. When you create a foundation around the things you actually enjoy or are at least willing and able to do, consistency becomes easier. And consistency is not just something you either have or you don’t. It is a skill you can strengthen by showing up again and again.

    Episode Description

    Today I am asking you to look at progress differently. The scale moving is a byproduct. It is not the goal. You cannot dial up a twenty pound program on a timeline and expect your body to follow a script. What you can control are your actions and the environment you build around them. When you focus on repeatable actions, your body moves at its own pace and the pressure drops.

    We are not robots. We have emotions and that is a good thing. Most of our food patterns are tied to how we feel. Ignoring that is why short term diets rarely turn into a lifestyle. So we honor what is true. We call out cravings and traditions. We notice the joy of a tailgate or a family potluck. We learn to observe thoughts without judgment, then redirect when needed. That is the inside/out work.

    From there we keep the plan simple. Choose movement you are willing and able to do. Choose foods you enjoy, then add water and produce to your main meals. As habits settle in, your plate shifts without drama. Big picture first, details second. The weight follows the work.
