Publisher's summary

They messed with her. But they picked the wrong woman . . .

Simone used to be the woman that other women would use if they suspected that their partner was cheating. She would investigate, find out the truth, and if the men were guilty, exact revenge. But after things went wrong with one couple, Simone was forced to go into hiding to evade the law.

Having assumed a new identity, Simone is now Mary, a mild-mannered woman who doesn't raise her voice or get angry, meaning nobody would suspect her of being capable of the things she used to do for a living. But when she finds out that her new boyfriend is having an affair, it awakens in her the person she used to be.

That means Simone is back. It also means that her boyfriend and his mistress are in for the shock of their lives . . .

Another gripping psychological thriller from the bestselling author of Til Death Do Us Part and The Passenger.

I WANNA SEE WHAT SIMONE DOES NEXT

This is definitely one of my top reads by Daniel Hurst. I love a schemer and a revenge plot and this has both. Lately it seems like a lot of thrillers I’ve been reading the lead female character is always in distress and has almost no autonomy. Not Simone.

Simone helps women get revenge on their cheating partners in the pettiest of ways. She lacks empathy until she’s the one being cheated on. Her lack of self awareness though was annoying to me sometimes. Like girl, you know that you’re out here playing a dangerous game but you set meetings in the same cafe with every client yet paranoid that a regretful customer might come back to harm you. I was able to over look the ridiculousness because I was entertained.

Told in duel timelines, both have equal weight and I was invested in both. I didn’t guess the twist but it was so convoluted and contrived that I would not have guessed it anyway but I didn’t care, I was already locked in. And I loved that Simone didn’t learn her lesson in the end and still wants to continue her side job of vengeance.

Loved It!

I've listened to almost all Hurst's books and this was probably my favorite! Best narration too.

Tedious

The plot was good but there was a lot of repeated information and details that wasn’t necessary. It was extremely annoying.
I literally kept rolling my eyes and saying “I know!” It’s been told 500 times.
