Critic reviews

"Alternately humorous and practical, the Survival Handbook veers into the bizarre while having the good sense to pepper that wit such nuggets as how to finagle a reservation, break up and make up with your beloved, and dozens of other gems." (AudioFile)

I didn't enjoy or benefit from this book at all. It was boring and very badly written.

Silly, in a not funny sort of way. This book was not at all what I had expected. I would not suggest this book to anyone.

Dumb

I was looking for tips such as "what to do if you spill wine on yourself during a date" or "quick tips for fresh breath," maybe even "what to do if you can't rise to the occasion." That isn't what the book was about at all. The book spent chapters telling you how to escape through the kitchen or bathroom windows of restaurants when you don't like your date. How to ask the restaurant if you and your date can wash dishes to pay for your tab. How to ditch dates you don't like via disguise and lies. I found myself wanting to yell "grow up" or "duh" through the entire book (the 3/4 I listened to rather). I don't suggest it. But that's just my opinion.

It sounded funny! I was wrong.

Dont buy this book if you think it will be funny (like I did) - it seems it is supposed to be serious.

And dont buy it if you are really looking for some dating tips - they range from the obvious to the absurd (but still not funny) - like dressing up as a waiter to make a strategic exit from your date in a restaurant.

Which of course leaves the question why buy this book at all and why was it made into an audiobooK?
