Better than counseling

As usual Katie delivers her insight with compassion and helps us gain understanding using our own reasoning.

Narcissist's dream

I feel there are many helpful techniques in this strategy for those that are learning how to use "I" statements and beginning to realize there is pain living in blame. However, I think it is a slippery slope when introduced to an unknown narcissist and codependent relationship, especially if they are actively working and knowledgeable in psychological techniques to attempt bettering their relationship. When the codependent partner says "I feel threatened when you yell at me," it is far too easy for the narcissist to say "Turn it around; I can't control your feelings; you make you feel threatened when I yell." It detaches the narcissist from any accountability and allows further head games resulting in the codependent partner to feel they are going crazy, questioning everything. The narcissist has found the ultimate way to manipulate the codependent in the name of psychology.

Focus

Requires real focus when listening to it and it has to be listened to over and over. I'll need to download the worksheet and do the work to fully grasp the concept.
I am a hands on learner so this review is written from that perspective.
The book is very helpful in helping you recognize that the way you view people determines how you're reaction and if you change your thought about a person everything changes.

The work is the best discovery I've made

They way she takes these people (and me as a reader) to see angles we didnt want to see, is truely a gift. I believe Byron Kathie is one of our modern day philosophers... she's got it down to the point

Byron Katie has transformed my life.

This collection of audio recordings is a great place to start if you're new to the work. I listen to this one again periodically and counted among one of the best of her entire repertoire.

I felt resistance at first then heard me in every situation

What a wildly insightful and simple look at ourselves, our lives, our thoughts, or stories and reactions to what we believe is true, but know not to be. What a gift this book and her work is!
