Story
As part of a family where life happens to you, 15-year-old Carasine Busey is devastated but not surprised when her family drops everything in Sweet Hollow, Louisiana to follow her dad's shaky career as a welder. It's not especially shocking, either, when he abandons them all shortly after they settle into their new home in the city. Carasine, her mom Rhonda, and the rest of the Busey clan have adapted to roll with the punches. It's not until Carasine gets a second chance with an unlikely pair of long-lost relatives that she realizes her path in life might be up to her to navigate.

Story
Caitlyn Sullivan had come from a long line of Hollywood royalty, stretching back to her Irish immigrant great-grandfather. At nine, she was already a star - yet still an innocent child who loved to play hide-and-seek with her cousins at the family home in Big Sur. It was during one of those games that she disappeared. Some may have considered her a pampered princess, but Cate was in fact a smart, scrappy fighter, and she managed to escape her abductors. Callan Cooper was shocked to find the bloodied, exhausted girl huddled in his house.

A gripping and emotional novel that will leave you wondering about the neighbors next door...On a cold January night, Sharon Lemke heads outside to see a lunar eclipse when she notices something odd at the house behind her backyard. Through her neighbor's kitchen window, she sees what appears to be a little girl washing dishes late at night. “You know what people really need? Somebody who will listen hard and then find a way to tell them, ‘It’s not all your fault. It’s going to work out fine. Don’t give up.’” So advice columnist ‘Dear Lily’ Brown deeply believes. But Lily could write a letter to herself, asking what to do about an ex-husband who still wants her dating advice, how to redecorate the family home she’s kept exactly the same since her parents died tragically young, how to move on with her strangely becalmed life...and what to do when your wild-child estranged sister storms back into town.

Bridget and Will have the kind of relationship that people envy: They’re loving, compatible, and completely devoted to each other. The fact that they’re strictly friends seems to get lost on nearly everyone. For three decades, they’ve nurtured their baby, the Forsyth Trio - a chamber group they created as students with their Juilliard classmate Gavin Glantz. In the intervening years, Gavin has gone on to become one of the classical music world’s reigning stars, while Bridget and Will have learned to embrace the warm reviews and smaller venues that accompany modest success.

Publisher's Summary
From the best-selling author of Sweet Hollow Women comes a quirky new thriller for fans of Megan Abbott, Liane Moriarty, and Carl Hiaasen.
Veloura has never stood a chance. Raised by negligent parents and orphaned as a teen, she's settled for a life of low expectations. She spends her days sprucing up the shack of a has-been bull rider and washing hair down at the local salon. But when it turns out her fiancé doesn't have her best interests at heart, she's forced to come up with a new plan for herself.
An opportunity to be the spokesperson for a coffee chain means a bright future could be hers, if only she can stay ahead of her dark past.

Oh wow. This book is different from what I'm used to. It was a whole lot of fun to listen to, except for the backstory. The narrator was so good. the writing was really good, and the characters and dialogue were so much fun.

I liked it
I was able to listen to the audiobook of this. The narrator did a wonderful job. That being said, I did have some issues with Veloura. I understand she was young, but my goodness sometimes I wanted to shake her and tell her to open her eyes! The mystery was a good one though!

Hilarious mystery/thriller
This was my second listen from Holly Tierney-Bedord and completely different from the first. At it’s base, The Woman America Loves a Latte is a well-crafted Mystery/Supspense/Thriller novel. On top of that, it is hilarious. Poor Vee is desperate to love and find love that she ends up involved with a man who finds her more valuable dead than alive. Fortunately for her, he’s too stupid to succeed. Following her adventures in escaping him as well as the added perspectives from her friends (and enemies) while she’s publicly on the run had me cracking up. It’s slightly over-the-top, but I went with it and had a great time.
It’s also the kind of book I could see myself listening to multiple times, not only to catch things I may have missed the first time around – but because the humor would be just as fun the next listen.
Honestly, the only drawback to the book was the prologue & epilogue. They didn’t feel like they were from the same book. I usually love epilogues, but the jump was so far it felt unsubstantiated.
Chistopher Lane was fabulous narrating this. With so many chapters from a female POV a male narrator was a surprising choice – but he was fantastic and I’ll definitely seek out more of his work.
I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Humor & Good Plot
A woman who hasn’t know luck, is mistaken for someone else and lands a plush job, for an advertising company traveling. Her past with all the junkies, idiots follow her, the story gives them a good description, which then brings us laughs along the way. Her books are always well written this one had more humor in it for readers to enjoy

Fantastic book that will have you LOL!!
This book had me laughing like a loon! The narrator did a phenomenal job with the various characters...I could certainly picture the douchebag, Thunder! Velora didn’t have the most memorable of childhood, her drug-addicted mother was accidentally killed by a bf when she was in hs. She’s been sort of coasting through life. When she runs off from her bf, who’s been plotting to kill her, she wings it and gets a job as a spokesperson for a coffee shop chain. Velora goes from anonymity to ‘famous’. With a stalker, or stalkers, after her, will Velora survive to celebrate her 21st birthday.
I highly recommend this book if you want to have some laughs. There is one sad spot but that just enhances the story. Definitely a reread/listen!
I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
