amazing sequel

this series is one my favorites and i will reread it forever and ever. this is a great continuation from the first book and it’s fun to see Cooper and Park still ont eu job but mixed in with family drama… and their budding relationship! i love them so much 💗

great book, better narration than book 1. when is book 3 on audio? Cant wait!

Audio narration leaps and bounds better

Audio narration leaps and bounds better than book 1! It’s not gonna win awards but I didn’t want to pull my hair out and it did the job.

THIS STORY WAS FANTASTIC

Loved it!

This book is amazing! I love Cooper and Oliver so much. This story is intense. It was hard to put it down.
I don't listen to ai or virtual voice so I'm glad the audiobook narrator is human. I do wish they could read the characters' thoughts in a different tone. It was hard to differentiate between what the characters actually said and what they were just thinking. So that was a little confusing. But overall, he did a good job.

Likable characters

Cooper drags Park to meet his family with hopes of clarifying their relationship.
A twenty year old murder comes to the surface and the two look for the solution before Cooper's Dad is jailed for the murder.
Relationships are tested and secrets revealed.

So much better...

The narrator is so much better, which makes the story that much better. I am slowly but surely falling in love with Oliver and Cooper. Meeting Cooper's father and brother and the mystery that unfolds was great listening.

Loveable Idiots

This is a multiple reread for me. it's a series that I have returned to on a multitude of occasions and I love it each and every time. That being said I do not think that this one is as good as book 1.

I do think this book is insanely important for Cooper especially. The healing he has with his brother and father honestly makes me tear up. it's clear that underneath Ed's macho man demeanor he truly loves and cares about Cooper. Dean is more of a puppy and I love him so much for it, his easy acceptance and willingness to wait for his brother to come to him about his sexuality is how many queer people hope people will react to them. This is also when Cooper finally believes he may have some semblance of self worth as well and starts him further down his own road of self discovery and healing.

This book is also exceedingly vital for Oliver and Cooper as a couple. Cooper finally let's down some of the walls he had since he had his heart broken by his first love. Oliver finally trusts Cooper enough to tell him about his family despite Coops many many blunders.

While not the spiciest of books, the spice that is in it are insanely hot and tender. Both men being able to open up to each other more is allowing them to become even more intimate with each other and I loved every minute of it.

Finally the mystery was good. It does have you guessing the entire time, there is twists and turns and it keeps you actively engaged from start to finish.

It's Complicated

performance: the narrator isn't bad. He just doesn't "do voices." He reads well and clearly and with good intonation. There just aren't different voices for different characters.

the story: the biggest problem in this series is Cooper, the main character. He is a selfish man, parsimonious in his trust and affection. A habitual liar. Given to lashing out in fear and anger. His back story doesn't justify it. As a male romantic lead...he's awful.

But he's a good narrator. He tells the story well, and the story is interesting. I read the books before I listened to them, and I'm still somewhat puzzled by why I like them when I don't really like Cooper.

I liked this, but I can absolutely understand why someone might not. That makes for a rotten recommendation, but there it is.

Even better than the first!

This was fantastic! I really enjoyed how well this was written. It is obvious the author really cares about this story and world he’s created. I’m happy to say this was even more enjoyable than the first.
