Publisher's summary

"Hits the ground running and pulls you into a gas-lit world of magic and mystery....keeps you guessing right up to the end." (Ryan McSwain, author of Four Color Bleed)

Ghoul War veteran Zane Vrexon is struggling to make ends meet as a private detective when he gets a cryptic note from an old friend, Dennis, who says his wife is in danger. Then Dennis turns up dead in his own potion shop and his widow, Vana, is the main suspect.

Zane has enough problems — including an addiction to healing elixir and a voice in his head with nothing but bad ideas — but he agrees to investigate with help from Dennis’s gnome assistant and a professor from The Institute. But as they dig into the mysterious death, Zane and company discover Dennis had ties to the goblin mob. Meanwhile, Vana is being hunted by a being thought either mythical or long extinct.

And now they’re all in the crosshairs with her.

"A masterful concoction of mystery, storytelling, and intrigue that had me tearing pages. I knew we had something special when I read the first draft, but this turned into something spectacular. It felt as if Sir Arthur’s tales had come alive in a new world.” (Charles D’Amico, award-winning author and Blue Handle President)

Hands down great random pick.

Picked this book on a whim and very happy we did. For a first book this feels like an experienced writer. Feels like a good in-between of young adult and serious story. Never felt like there were any dull slow moments while still having a good amount of story and character building. My wife loves mysteries and usually can guess them right away. She felt the author did a great job keeping you guessing and having several story line going on without being confusing. We’re both very excited for this to become a series. We give the performance 4 stars only because the narrator changed the main characters voice part way through and preferred the first one.

Great Story

The story started out strong and finished strong. I could feel a real connection with the characters and enjoyed watching their relationships grow. I hope to see more books following these same characters. Book 2?

A fantasy murder mystery with charm

I absolutely adored my time reading the Wizards Brew. The characters were likeable, as is the world the tale takes place in. Without spoilers the story left me wanting to read more in this universe. Would absolutely recommend to any fantasy or murder mystery fans.
